October is Blindness Awareness Month. Throughout this month, we celebrate the remarkable achievements of individuals who are blind or have visual disabilities. It’s a time to recognize their strength, resilience, and the many contributions they bring to our communities. As we raise awareness, it’s important to reflect on the critical role of empathy and inclusion in creating a supportive environment. Parents of children with visual disabilities often face tremendous stress as they navigate education, accessibility, and ensuring their children thrive. It's our collective responsibility to ease this burden through greater societal support. Companies, too, play a crucial role in this effort by fostering inclusive workplaces, investing in assistive technologies, and ensuring equal opportunities for all employees, regardless of their abilities. Yet, there’s still more work to be done—whether through policy changes, better tools, better accessibility standards, or greater community outreach. #Microsoft is having their month of caring. On International Women's Day it's a perfect opportunity to highlight the importance of even a basic level of education for girls where we work. ❤️ Educated mothers are 50% more likely to immunise their children and their children are x2 more likely to survive past the age of 5. 💰 When 10% more girls attend school, that country’s GDP increases by 3% 🌱 Girls’ Education = Climate resilience. Countries’ resilience to climate disasters significantly improves with every additional year of education that girls acquire.

Not just in society but in business as well, change is essential. The IPhone came out in 2007! Embrace change. American history has been marked by a strong presence of nonprofits at the forefront of every movement for social change. Across the country, nonprofits are driving a movement for greater diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and access. Social justice-minded agencies have paved the way toward more diverse workforces, inclusive practices, and cultures of belonging. People who were traditionally underrepresented now have a voice and an opportunity to use it, thanks to more distributed leadership structures. If there were ever a time to work in a nonprofit, that time is now.
