While we are celebrating New Year, I reflect on how happy I am to be part of The capital agency, 9Yards Communications ☑️. 2023 business wrap up by BBC said that 84% of businesses toward Q4 extra performed due to the common gathering of people during Christmas and New Year. This proves again an economic theory which my professor and UN advisor thought me in class 20 years ago (time flies). He used to say 'Alice, in economic science we have a theory. When we say something goes bad, it goes bad. When we say something goes well, it goes well.' I remember he said that while explaining 'The multiplier effect.' During the festivity season, we all care for one another. Pretending it or not, in the end you are part of this energy of cheering, caring, kindness and somehow this is good for business. People, in the end, are the businesses. The human part of our social behaviour despite technology advancement is still pretty primal: we trust a smile over well... a chart. (thankfully, may I add). Years after, while I sat at dinner in Hong Kong with a banker, (he is probably reading me, hello HAPPY NEW YEAR) he told me exactly the opposite, yet proving exactly the same principle 'Alice when things go bad, it gets better and better for me.' When things go bad and you invest in the bad, then of course that multiplies too. Now, while in the mids of recession and global turmoil, debating the paradox of thrift or not as economic's lessons rusty memories, I had a moment of light: trust me, for this you do not need to be a Harvard professor nor have many years on your shoulders, you just need to connect with your heart and well therefore with the people and company you have around you. (The real gold.) When you obsessively want a specific outcome, then you do put all yourself in it, and consequentially it does truly happen. So simplistic this might be, it is no different than what my finance and economic entourage thought me. Now, in this part of the world, there is an element that gets easily forgotten in the West world. When making those wishes and plans perhaps it is not bad to look up to the sky. That is not an economic theory, it is a spiritual one. I am also learning to reconnect with spirituality, here in Abu Dhabi. Believing in what many people can't yet see. Knowing that if I say it will go well, then it will go well. I look back at my career and I look upfront for my 2024 with hopes and wishes, like everyone else, with a difference, this year. I look up at numbers and words, like the professors and friends thought me, but I look even more up to the sky. I then know we will have the most amazing year yet to come, leaning into my hart as much my brain and feeling that l am not alone. It will be an amazing year. HAPPY NEW YEAR #happynewyear #thankful #wishes
From Our 9Yards family, May the New Year overflow with happiness, love, and boundless success for all. #NewYear2024 #9YardsCommunication #NewYearWishes
