September hasn’t been without its obstacles which I’m working on overcoming but, upon reflection, a lot of positives have been achieved 1) MVP Award Nomination ✅ 2) Delivering my first employment law seminar ✅ 3) Co-hosting an amazing department Development Day ✅ 4) Presenting in our People Managers Day ✅ 5) Visiting Belfast to support our NI team ✅ But nothing, absolutely nothing, has been a better achievement than on Friday receiving this feedback from one of my team as they get ready to take their next step with Peninsula UK . Wrapping up one of my best professional years! We set some ambitious goals for this year, and I can confidently say we exceeded them. Some of my favorite highlights include: 1. Working as a team Three of our lawyers took parenting leave at different points of the year. It was inspiring to watch the team rally to support their colleagues on leave while still delivering exceptional client service. They ensured our clients’ cases moved without a hitch! 2. New awards We won awards we’d never won before. Minnesota's Best recognized Wanta Thome PLC with a Gold award, naming us the “Best Employment Law Firm.” Plus, we were included in the Best Law Firms - United States rankings for 2025. While I'm not one to chase trophies, being recognized feels incredibly rewarding! 3. Emerging leaders Our newer attorneys demonstrated remarkable growth, evolving into confident practitioners who independently manage complex cases and drive their professional advancement. What helped them? Collaborative teamwork and a laser focus on outcomes. Different people reach the same destination in different ways, and we must give them the space and support they need to achieve their goals. By definition, a leader is someone who ‘leads,’ but they must also lift others up so they can become leaders themselves!

I would have much more respect for Vennels if she were to honestly acknowledge her failures — and state as a CEO, a manager, and, most importantly, as a human being. While I cannot change the past, I recognise that my primary focus was on my career, ego, profiteering and financial gain. I lacked respect and had a blatant disregard for the sub postmasters, and no action I take can ever fully compensate for the suffering they endured under my leadership. No apology, however heartfelt, can erase the misery they experienced, for which I bear full responsibility as CEO. The key lesson here is that we must break the cycle of greed and self-interest, and instead, build a society that prioritises compassion, mutual benefit and inclusivity, caring for all stakeholders involved. https://lnkd.in/eTpQh-WT
