Ana Fong, the fourth-generation showrunner and Chief Operating Officer of Tong Heng, took the heritage pastry brand to new heights with a rebrand. But how does a brand with over 80 years of history balance tradition with innovation? It all started when Ana observed that Tong Heng was being overlooked by the younger crowd. Concerned that the brand might become obsolete, Ana decided an overhaul was necessary to draw in younger customers and ensure the brand’s continuity. Convincing her family to embrace such a drastic change was no walk in the park. They were worried it might alienate the older generation of customers and erode the brand's authenticity. Keeping these concerns in mind, their design agency &Larry developed a new look that preserved key brand identifiers, such as its name and logo, while infusing other elements with new colours. The change proved successful, resulting in positive business outcomes.
