Cook Children's Health Care System’s Post

Vivian Ho is a pharmacy student from Garland, Texas who recently completed an internship at Cook Children’s Medical Center – Fort Worth. After her pharmacy internship ended, she decided to stay at Cook Children’s for the ASHP-accredited pharmacy residency program. Read Vivian’s interview below to learn more about why she chose to stay. Q: Why are you staying at Cook Children’s for the pharmacy residency program? A: At Cook Children’s, I am able to witness the pharmacy team practicing at the top of their license. I’m inspired by the team’s work and have consistently seen progression and growth, not just within the pharmacy department alone, but the entire Cook Children’s Health Care System as a whole. I am staying because I know there is so much more for me to learn and I know I’ll be learning from the best team. Q: What do you hope to learn during your time in the pharmacy residency program? A: I hope to gain a better understanding of the pediatric population and my roles as a pharmacist. My goal is to build stronger confidence in myself and my knowledge and leave the program with more curiosity so that I can continue learning in my pharmacy career. Q: What advice would you give to someone considering joining the pharmacy internship program at Cook Children’s? A: The Cook Children’s pharmacy internship program is one of the best programs I have gotten to be a part of. The entire pharmacy team provides many opportunities for all interns throughout the year. Students can work one-on-one with clinical pharmacists in units such as the ICU, emergency department, outpatient clinics and many more. Without this experience I would not have been given such opportunities in my career thus far.
