🌟 Championing Unrestricted Funding in 2025 🌟 As an innovative, performance-driven not-for-profit, we’re dedicated to fostering greater collaboration and transparency between charities and funders. This year, we are making a special effort to promote the benefits of unrestricted, untied, Pay What it Takes funding. We’re an open book and we invite trusts, foundations, philanthropists, and intermediaries who want to take a closer look at how we measure, monitor, and report on our progress toward our mission. Book time with Naomi Nicholas, our Head of Community Engagement, for an in-depth conversation about: 📈 How we monitor and report on Cool.org’s KPIs. 🔍How we measure impact and evaluate the effectiveness of our work. 🚀 The transformational power of unrestricted funding to drive mission-aligned outcomes. We’re passionate about transparency and excited to share our experience to help others understand the incredible potential of unrestricted funding to empower charities and drive long-term impact. Let’s work together to build a stronger, more impactful nonprofit sector. 🌱 📅 Book an online session with Naomi: https://lnkd.in/gqbEAmk8 Thea Stinear ✨, Jason Kimberley, Hamish Curry, Jan Owen AM Hon DLitt, Julie Buxton, Helen Whitehead, Josh Cubillo, David Coleman, Naomi Nicholas - if you have a moment to share with your networks, that would be brilliant 😊 #UnrestrictedFunding #Philanthropy #Charity #Impact #Transparency #CoolOrg #PayWhatItTakes #Collaboration #NFPs #Sustainability #Education #Productivity #Agile #Governance

Kudos to the Ontario Nonprofit Network for their 2024 State of the Sector survey! The report highlights both the challenges and the resilience of Ontario’s nonprofit sector. It’s inspiring to see how nonprofits continue to step up for their communities, even as demand for services grows and funding remains tight. One thing that really stood out to me is how important data is for making smarter decisions and supporting communities, especially those that are often overlooked. We need to keep pushing for more investment in these data-driven efforts and make sure nonprofits have the resources they need to thrive. Let’s keep the conversation going and work together to build a stronger future for the nonprofit sector. #NonProfit #ONN #SocialImpact #StrongerTogether #FundingForGood

🌏 For the #InternationalDayofCharity, we asked our non-profit partners what their biggest wishes were when it comes to #philanthropy and #funding. Here is what they had to say: 🤝 Trust - The most successful relationships between funders and NGOs are anchored on #trust. 🌿 Unrestricted Funding - Multi-year unrestricted funding gives groups the flexibility to respond to the needs of their communities. 🧑🤝🧑 People - Core operational funding recognizes the value of the people needed to lead impactful organizations. 🌟 Supporting small projects can deliver very tangible #socialimpact on the ground. 💡 Mindset Shift - We cannot be business-as-usual to solve today’s problems. We need to be willing to take calculated risks to make a difference. In Firetree, we strive to work in solidarity and partnership with the organizations that we fund, moving beyond traditional and hierarchical notions of “charity.” We would like to thank our current and former partners BagoSphere, Uplifters, The Kite Tales, Baan Dek Foundation, and Resolve Foundation for sharing their insights with us. Improving Grant Making – Let's get the Conversation Going The demand for funding has never been higher. We’re seeing more grant rounds paused, closed, or cut short, whilst charities are grappling with rising demand and shrinking income. Something needs to change. For larger funders, the volume of applications must be overwhelming. But are there small, practical changes that could relieve pressure for both funders and applicants? Here are a few suggestions: 1. Expressions of Interest (EOI) –A simple EOI stage could help ease the burden on charities, allowing them to gauge their fit before committing to a full application. It also helps funders quickly identify which proposals they want to explore further. 2. Constructive Feedback –I understand that volume is a challenge, but even brief feedback can be a game-changer. It helps applicants refine future submissions or pivot to more aligned funders, ultimately saving time and resources on both sides. 3. Clearer Guidelines – Let’s cut through the noise. Many guidelines are so lengthy and vague that applicants are left uncertain about what funders truly want. By providing more concise, focussed guidance, funders could reduce the number of off-target applications, and create a more manageable and efficient process. In these challenging times, it’s more important than ever for funders and charities to work together to improve the grant-making process. What other small changes could make a big difference? I'd love to hear your thoughts and ideas! #GrantMaking #Philanthropy #FundingSolutions #Collaboration

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲? 97% of surveyed nonprofit funders say the #1 reason they give is 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁. But here’s the problem: 𝗧𝗼𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗻𝗼𝗻𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗱𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁—𝗼𝗿 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁—𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁. Providing temporary relief is not enough, Gen-Z expects your nonprofit to have a plan to fix the problem not just give a remedy for a symptom of the problem. • 55% of Gen Z prefer causes creating lasting outcomes, not quick fixes • 90% believe nonprofits must collaborate with companies for real impact • They're skeptical of traditional "band-aid" solutions Why? Gen Z has grown up in a world of complex, interconnected challenges. They're not content with surface-level fixes. What this means for nonprofits: 1. Highlight your long-term strategy 2. Show how you're addressing root causes 3. Be transparent about challenges and failures (86% of young donors value this!) 4. Collaborate across sectors for comprehensive solutions Gen Z wants to invest in transformative change, not just temporary relief. Does your nonprofit have a systematic fix for your cause or are you just providing relief of a symptom? #GenZPhilanthropy #SystemicChange #NonprofitInnovation #NonprofitLeader #Nonprofit #Nonprofitfundraising
