Today, we share a powerful story of triumph through tragedy. Eve Goldberg is the founder of BIGVISION and she joined us on Wake Up with Marci & Hilary to shed light on the devastating effects of addiction, youth, and accidental overdose. Eve was a loving ❤️ mother who watched her son, Isaac, battle with addiction from a young age. Tragically, Isaac lost his life to an accidental overdose at the tender age of 21. This inconceivable event propelled Eve to raise awareness, educate others, and prevent similar tragedies from happening to other families. Her mission is to ensure that no other parent has to endure the heartbreak 💔 she experienced. By founding BIGVISION, young adults in recovery are provided with a space to have safe, sober, fun and lead meaningful, sober lives. Celebrated 17 years in recovery yesterday! It has been a journey for sure. I value being a peer in this amazing addiction recovery space. The McShin Foundation helped to save my life all of those years ago and I am beyond honored to still be a part of this great organization. Recovery is possible, whatever that may look like for you. For me, it is the understanding of where I was and where I am on today. I constantly need to surround myself with positive energy and positive humans. I reach out to several wise counsel for coffee, lunch, dinner or invite them to join me for a walk I have a vision that keeps getting more clear with each conversation Our mission remains the same - to make recovery from addiction more visible and to keep promoting the truth about the facts that 1) addiction is treatable 2) recovery is possible 3) help & support is available how we do it adjusts as we gather more information about what's possible can't be grateful enough really.

🤝🏽 The Opposite of Addiction is Connection. Today, I visited The Bridge Recovery Center in Malden to donate to their clothing closet. I was filled with gratitude and truly impressed by the welcoming atmosphere and their dedication to providing a supportive environment for recovery. 💟 🗣️As someone with 9 years of sobriety and a history of clinical depression, I know firsthand the power of fostering a sense of belonging and the resources to heal. The Bridge Recovery Center offers that lifeline for many. 🌅The Bridge Recovery Center provides a collaborative approach, offering essential services like detox programs, relapse prevention counseling, social activities, and job training. ▪️The American Medical Association recognizes addiction as a disease. In 2022, 27 homicides were recorded in Mercer County, NJ. In the same year, the county witnessed a staggering 126 deaths due to opioid-related overdose. While both of these figures are cause for concern, only one (the former) tends to receive widespread media and public attention. Addiction is a disease-- not a choice, not a crime, not a moral failure. Every life that is lost to overdose is a reminder that this crisis cannot change until we end the stigma of addiction and substance use disorder, and break down the barriers that prevent people from receiving the proper treatment, assistance and care that they need to be well. Mercer Council is committed to standing with those in recovery, supporting families that have lost loved ones, fighting the stigma of addiction and challenging systems and perceptions that hold back progress.
