Unmasking the 'If It Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It' Myth Last week I delivered a lecture titled Unmasking "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" to Masters students at Lancaster University Management School. It was all about fostering an entrepreneurial mindset in larger businesses, well any business really. In a world where change is the only constant, hearing the old adage of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' sends shivers down my spine.....it means stagnation has set in and entrepreneurial mindset has left the building. My lecture aimed to challenge this mindset, encouraging future leaders to think innovatively, act entrepreneurially and always encourage and support others to have an entrepreneurial mindset, even within established organisations. I can feel one of my ranting videos coming on..... I've always been keen on knowledge transfer and its power - For me it's not just about guiding today's businesses; it's about inspiring tomorrow's leaders. Entrepreneurial spirit isn't confined to a single person or startups. It is a way of thinking and it's vital for any business seeking to evolve and thrive in today's world. Being an Entrepreneur in Residence and Teaching Fellow at Lancaster University is so rewarding, for all involved. 🖤CONTAGIOUS LOVE🤍 I've admired entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs for as long as I remember. At first it was for no particular reason, but as I grew I started to see a lot of things that was worth admiring about them. One of those things I admired and still do admire is the way they hope against hope. At the beginning of every great entrepreneurship journey, there must be a person or a group of people who are hoping against hope. Who are willing to go any length, who are determined and resilient, and who like the greats, will spread the infectious love for entrepreneurship around.
