Last night the housebuilder Bellway Homes revealed a £650 million all-share approach for its rival Crest Nicholson plc. The Crest Nicholson Board had rejected this approach, at an 18.8% premium over last night's closing price, as it undervalued the company. Indeed, it's worth noting that the average premium in the housebuilding sector over the last 5 years (over £500 million) was 32.9% (see table below). There was one low premium deal, Vistry's offer for Countryside (at 4.4%), but the parties justified that price with sizeable synergies and strong shareholder support (39% hard undertakings). Regardless, with high interest rates sparking consolidation in the sector, Bellway might be tempted to come back with a higher bid. #manda #mergersandacquisitions #housebuilding #londonstockexchange

5 Years ago today, we purchased 530 Orangeburg Road in Summerville, SC. This 15-unit property was our first acquisition in South Carolina, and the largest apartment complex we had ever purchased.
