Ey up - A friendly Yorkshire greeting similar to "Hello" or "Hi there." 2. 'Ow do? - Another way to say "How do you do?" or "How are you?" 3. Ta - A common abbreviation for "thank you." 4. Ta-ra - A casual way of saying "goodbye." 5. 'Ow's it goin'? - A friendly inquiry about how someone is doing. 6. Nee-boddah - Yorkshire's version of "nobody" or "no one." 7. Nowt - A word meaning "nothing." 8. Ginnel - A narrow alleyway or passage between buildings. 9. Scran - Food or a meal. 10. Brew - A cup of tea. 11. Summat - Yorkshire slang for "something." 12. Fettle - In good health or condition. 13. Snap - A packed lunch or a meal to take on the go. 14. Gaffer - The boss or someone in charge. 15. Laikin' - Playing or having fun. 16. Esther Perel once said that the quality of our relationships determines the quality of our lives. Not only do I agree with her but I’ll add that this applies to the business world as well. This week was a big week for me. On Monday, I communicated the launch of my company, Cactus 83, through which I want to share my Culture and Engagement expertise with leaders who understand that employee engagement is at the heart of their company's success. I received a ton of love and support from my network, family, and friends and I’m truly grateful for it. But I’ll tell you the truth: I loved hearing that people like the my company name, the website’s design and that they admire my courage. But what I’m the most grateful for is the candid feedback I received from a few of my connections who dared to tell it like it is: “JJ, I love what you’re doing, but your offer and services aren’t clear at all. It’s missing concrete examples of HOW you’re going to help these leaders with your expertise.” I believe that it’s the quality of my relationships that allowed for that to happen. Marie-Andrée Lemelin Breton, CRIA, Alicia Douville, CRHA and I have built the connection and trust it takes to show up for each other in this way. From a few years ago where I invited them out of the blue to come share their Officevibe experience with my peers in a live interview at the Workleap office to today where they champion Officevibe in their organization, our connection remains strong and I know it will for a long time.
