Findings from two recently-published peer reviewed papers can help eye care professionals succeed when prescribing multifocal contact lenses (MFCLs) to presbyopes. One study reveals that meeting patient vision needs may be more important than comfort for patients when choosing to continue MFCL wear, while the other validates an easy method to more successfully predict satisfaction and purchase intent. ⭐️IMC 2024 Paper Highlight⭐️ Beam Characteristics and Retinal Hazard Calculations for Red Light Myopia Control Therapy Device   Josh Richards examines new research of a sample red light myopia control device, uncovering that retinal exposure might exceed safe limits for many users. ⭐️IMC 2024 Poster Highlight⭐️ Real-world effectiveness of Diffusion Optics Technology (DOT) spectacle lenses for myopia control in Chinese children Debbie Laughton from SightGlass Vision, Inc. discusses promising six-month results from a two-year clinical trial in China, showing that Diffusion Optics Technology spectacle lenses significantly slowed myopia progression in children. These findings reinforce the effectiveness of the lenses across diverse populations, supporting earlier North American study results.
