Last week, COP28 UAE-G20 Brazil Presidency hosted the first joint event between a COP Presidency-G20 partnership, representing significant alignment between the G20 and COP agendas on sustainable finance, with Brazil being the sixth G20 country to endorse the Framework. On the sidelines of the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting in Brazil, COP28 Director General Majid Al Suwaidi met with finance ministers, government officials, leaders of international financial institutions, and civil society from Italy, Spain, and India. 2moThis joint event between the Presidency of the Group of Member States of Brazil for the COP28 and G20 Conference represents an important step towards strengthening international cooperation in the field of sustainable financing. The alignment of the two agendas reflects countries’ commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and collectively addressing climate challenges. The focus on the principles of the global climate finance framework, such as teamwork and creating opportunities for all, reflects the importance of collaboration between different countries and communities to ensure that climate solutions are comprehensive and effective. Through the meeting with finance ministers and leaders of financial institutions, dialogue and the exchange of ideas on how to improve financing strategies to meet the needs of the most vulnerable communities is promoted.
