I've talked before about how risk-based contracts need to have benchmarks to measure performance and outcomes and identify areas for improvement. But what are we basing those metrics and benchmarks on? Who/what should they be centered around? There's no singular party—they must be patient-centric and relevant to all stakeholders. Health systems need to effectively leverage unstructured data, and that data needs to be risk-adjusted to understand where patients come in and the results of individual centers.
