Meet Joshua Hood, 2023-2024 ASNT RISE Leadership Program participant! He is a Responsible Level III certified NAS 410 for radiographic testing at EnerSys Advanced Systems (EAS). He uses his experience at EnerSys managing the nondestructive testing (NDT) operations, training NDT personnel, preparing and verifying the adequacy of procedures, work instructions, and performing inspections on thermal batteries manufactured by EAS. Why Joshua joined the program: "My reasons for choosing the ASNT RISE program were based on a need of mentorship and leadership development after becoming the Responsible Level III at my place of employment. I discovered and became a member of ASNT and began to explore their website where I discovered RISE. This program began at the annual ASNT conference where there were opportunities to make connections, attend classes, seminars, walk a trade show, meet different vendors, and many other opportunities. The leadership development classes focus on team building, problem solving, social interaction, and thinking long-term big picture for professional development. With the opportunities to make connections, learn leadership skills, and attend the conferences, these were the reasons why I chose and would recommend this program to any NDT professional looking to advance their career." Twenty years on, it is clear we need to do something different. With moving into the third phase of the #Asbestos National Strategic Plan, we need to commence a concerted effort to proactively remove ACMs if we are to minimise risk and, ultimately, eliminate #asbestosrelateddiseases in #Australia. ~ Justine Ross (GAICD), former CEO, Asbestos and Silica Safety and Eradication Agency #beyondtheban #20thanniversary #asbestosremoval #asbestosawareness #asbestoscontainingmaterials #healthandsafety #leadership

For electric cooperatives, safety isn't just a priority – it's a lifeline. Our linemen work in environments with high voltage electricity, elevated structures and potentially hazardous conditions. Proper training equips them with the knowledge needed to protect themselves from these dangers, reducing the risk of accidents and injuries – and making sure they get home to their families each night. Coming together at NRECA's Safety Leadership Summit next week gives us a chance to continue our mission to power communities and improve lives, and not lose sight of the critical importance of safety. #coopsafety #safetyfirst #electriccoops 💡 🔌 ⚡

Y'all, let me tell you something..... I am living my best life! I've had the distinct honor to speak and teach at conferences over the last couple of weeks (#Safety24 and MAD SCCi), and next on the list is the Region VI - American Society of Safety Professionals PDC from September 18-20 in Virginia Beach, VA. I'll be teaching a 4-hour version of my "Leading with CARE Tactics" leadership development class at the pre-con and then giving a talk later in the week called "Use CARE Tactics, Not Scare Tactics: Refining Safety Through Science." In addition to the talks, I will be representing the ASSP Northern Virginia as a liaison, where I will introduce some speakers throughout the week. A little birdie told me some of my safety friends will be there, such as Pam Walaski, CSP, FASSP, Tim Page-Bottorff MS, CSP, CIT, Brandy Zadoorian, CSP, CSD, and Christina Roll, MS, CIH, CSP. I can't tell you how pumped about that! Also, I need to give a shoutout to another safety friend, Heather White, MIE, CPE, ASP, who will be teaching a pre-con on Manual Materials Handling: Risk Assessment and Solutions. If you don't know Heather, she is a LEGIT person and ergo-master! Let me know if you will be at the #RegionVIPDC #ProfessionalDevelopment #LearningTogether #CARETactics #ChangeChampions

Well worth having a look at our revised and refreshed ITP Code of Good Governance in light of the extra requirements set out in the new ESFA Financial Handbook for ITPs.
This week we published our revised and updated Code of Good Governance for Independent Training Providers. The code was originally developed and published back in 2018 with support from the now-defunct Further Education Trust for Leadership (FETL). However, with the advent of the new ESFA ITP Financial Handbook which was published at the end of February (becomes operational from August 2024), this is a suitable time for a refreshed and updated version of the AELP Code of Good Governance. The document can be downloaded from our website here 👉 https://buff.ly/49ov973
