After a slower than usual start the 2024 #Antarctic #ozonehole has been fairly average throughout its development. The maximum size was reached in late September as usual, and it is now gradually decreasing. Follow the process with the #CopernicusAtmosphere Monitoring Service: https://lnkd.in/eQqGNa8m

📢 An important step in the EU's efforts to improve Earth observation in the polar regions has recently been taken. The new Copernicus Polar Roadmap, presented by the #PolarTaskForce, charts a strategic course for monitoring the Arctic and Antarctic over the next decade. The #CopernicusClimate Change Service and the #CopernicusAtmosphere Monitoring Service will be crucial to this mission. They will provide the robust data needed to support policymakers in their efforts to understand and mitigate the changing polar climate and its global impacts. "I didn’t know how to use the CAMS datasets, but now I have learned all these things and can use them in my work," said Canan Atakul. She was one of 29 participants in the atmospheric composition monitoring and modelling training, held last month in Oslo, Norway. 🌍🛰️ The joint training, co-organised by CAMS, European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, European Space Agency - ESA, and EUMETSAT, and hosted by NILU, offered early-career researchers a valuable opportunity to improve their knowledge of the tools and datasets available for monitoring atmospheric composition. ▶️ Read the full article here https://lnkd.in/ev3-iBhT The participants were highly motivated and engaged throughout the training, contributing to its success. In the feedback survey, 93% of participants rated the training as very good or good. Similarly, 93% said they will use their newly learned skills and knowledge in their professional work.
