Traditional data centers rely heavily on water for cooling, placing a strain on precious resources. At ECL, we take a different approach 💧 ECL's data centers use a unique cooling system that eliminates the need for external water sources by using excess water generated during hydrogen-based power production. Leftover water is diverted to our community with our water give-back program. This innovative approach ensures excess clean water and low-grade heat generated by our hydrogen power is returned to the community, at no cost. Learn more here: https://bit.ly/4aLTKnl

A heat wave is expected to hit CAISO, the West, and parts of ERCOT this week. With extreme heat comes the potential for high prices and even outages. Is the grid ready for summer? ERCOT issued a Weather Watch on May 8th due to a combination of variables that fueled a perfect storm for high prices. 💸 Key Insights:💡 - Planned outages: ~24 GW of dispatchable generation was scheduled for planned spring maintenance. - High temp ranges early into the summer season drove peak demand during HE17 to 68.9 GWs. - Renewables and net demand: The solar ramp-down period was exacerbated by wind generation falling drastically by ~58% day-over-day during HE20 and HE21. - Tight supply stack: The supply stack in neighboring regions was tighter due to ERCOT and CENACE issuing emergency alerts. Price impact💰: - Day-ahead prices cleared at ~$2,000/MWh during HE20 - HE21 - Real-time prices nearly hit $5,000/MWh during HE20 – HE21 - Amperon’s day-ahead net demand forecasts were 3.5x more accurate than ERCOT’s when real-time prices hit $5,000/MWh during HE20-21 Contact Amperon for more insights into this already volatile season: https://hubs.li/Q02zx1_H0 #ERCOT #CAISO

ERCOT is considering some 'dynamic' solutions to address transmission constraints in Texas. Demand response and dynamic line ratings are on the table to keep the power flowing as demand rises. The energy landscape is evolving, and it's encouraging to see innovative approaches being explored to ensure grid reliability. #TexasEnergy

Why baseline power with a smart grid infrastructure running at a 75-85% capacity utilization level is so important .. The under investment over the past 30-50 years, within the United States will need to be a focus going forward. Or this current brownout/ blackout will progressively get worst…
