"#BusinessAnalysts? They just write requirements." ✍ ❌ This is a common misconception. While Business Analysts do document requirements, their role goes far beyond that. A BA's work is multifaceted, involving high-value activities before and after documentation. 🏙 In my experience, Business Analysts often wear many hats—Project Manager, Change Consultant, Product Owner, or Scrum Master—due to their broad skill set. The truth is, that BAs are passionate about more than just writing. They drive meaningful business change within organizations. 💻 If a BA's job were limited to writing requirements, it would be reduced to simply gathering input and jotting it down. However, the reality is much more complex. 💎 Before any documentation, BAs engage in deep discussions about the "Why," "Who," "How," and "When." They excel in simplifying complex information, leading discovery workshops, refining backlogs, managing stakeholders, and ensuring alignment from concept to delivery. 🔓 To unlock the true value of a Business Analyst, organizations must empower them to go beyond "just writing requirements." BAs have much more to offer than documentation. Give them the autonomy to leverage their full potential, and you'll see the real impact of a Business Analyst. #BusinessAnalyst #SDLC

Do you ever wonder what a Business Analyst (BA) truly does? Being a BA is more than just a role—it's about forging an emotional connection with the team. I wear many hats: **Analyst**: Uncovering insights and understanding needs **Scrum Master**: Facilitating agile processes and team collaboration **Brainstormer**: Generating innovative ideas and solutions **Creator**: Crafting strategies and solutions **Writer**: Documenting requirements and processes **Solver**: Addressing challenges and finding answers **Manager**: Overseeing projects and ensuring alignment **Qualifier**: Ensuring quality and consistency **Decision Maker**: Guiding critical choices **Product Owner**: Shaping and owning the product vision We BAs don’t just execute tasks; we create the needs and drive solutions. A business analyst is never *just* a business analyst. And sometimes a business analyst isn’t even called a business analyst. So, then, what are we? Certainly, we are business analysts. But we are also sometimes... 💡 Product owners 💡 Product managers 💡 Project managers 💡 Scrum masters 💡 Quality assurance specialists 💡 Developers 💡 Researchers 💡 Trainers 💡 Mentors 💡 ...and so much more! What’s my point here? Well, BAs often have to know a little bit about everything. And that means we can also *do* a little bit of everything. When times get tough for another role, we’re able to step in and help. I often preach about BAs needing to ensure that teams are delivering value to stakeholders and end-users and the organization. But we are also delivering value to our teams by stepping up and helping out. We show up and get s--t done! #businessanalysis #BA #softwaredevelopment #value

A day in life of Business Analyst... What does a Business Analyst do all day? And are they really an essential part of an organisation’s success? Read on to find out… What does a Business Analyst actually do? One of the many exciting aspects of being a Business Analyst is that every single day is genuinely different! However, a typical day will consist of managing and attending team meetings, project planning, user story refinement, documentation management, and communicating proposed solutions to stakeholders based on the analysis you have undertaken. The below isn’t an extensive list, but does outline many of the key responsibilities of a Business Analyst in a SCRUM project: · Depending on their roles, most BAs spend part of their days planning. Planning for projects, meetings, interviews, sprint reviews, workshops, etc. This usually requires a lot of focus and attention as they might spend time reviewing schedules, lists, calendars and documents just to ensure that they are on track with things that need to captured or discussed. · Collaborating with the Product Owner to manage the product backlog · A significant part of a BAs day is spent interacting with stakeholders. This could be in form of meetings and workshops. During these meetings, the BA will interact with stakeholders such as business users, SMEs, project managers, developers, and sometimes external clients. · Sending MOM to stakeholders on elicitation meetings. · A large part of the day might require the BA to be fixated on itemising the requirements that were elicited and use the data to develop models in preparation for meetings with stakeholders. These models could be context diagrams, process flow diagrams, mockups, etc. In order to do this, the BA must understand documentation and be able to use modelling tools like Visio, Balsamiq, Jira, etc. · Writing new user stories / epics · Updating existing user stories / epics · Attending daily stand-up meeting · Collaborating with the Project Manager to manage stakeholder expectations and solution/document timescales · Stakeholder relationship building and management (operations, tech, project team etc.) Then there are unpredictable ad-hoc items that BA works on.. and the day comes to and END finally.
