Here are some key things to look out for:1️⃣ Notice changes in appearance: Keep an eye out for weight loss, bruises, or an unkempt appearance that could signal health issues.2️⃣ Be aware of behavioral changes: Increased forgetfulness, confusion, or mood swings can be red flags for potential concerns.3️⃣ Observe the home environment: Check for signs of neglect like unopened mail, spoiled food, or excess #SeniorCareAwareness #HolidayVisits #CaringForElders #SeniorCareDuringHolidays #WatchForWarningSigns #QualityTimeTogether

Everyone's aging journey looks different, but a few signs signal it's time for extra support. Watch for these changes in your loved one. Disorganization: Excessive messiness, trash accumulation, clutter, and unmaintained yards can indicate an underlying problem. Mood swings: Everyone has off days, but persistent irritability, withdrawal, and other extreme emotions may point to health conditions like depression or dementia. Forgetfulness: Occasionally, misplacing keys is normal, but getting lost in known areas, asking repetitive questions, and experiencing confusion about time, places, or people could indicate a significant memory concern. #CareGiversHealth 💕 It's hard to see our PARENTS grow old. As kids, many of us saw (and still see) them as our superheroes. As Indians, we take care of aging parents as a profound expression of love and respect. But many of us forgo our own physical and mental health. It's time to talk about the caregiver. Why is it important to look after our own health while we are caring for our parents? Here are 3 top reasons: 1. SUSTAINABILITY ("Keep Going Strong"): When you take care of yourself, you make sure you can keep helping your loved ones for the long haul. If you don't, you might burn out or get sick, and that's going to make it tough to care for anyone. Staying healthy means you can keep up with your caregiving duties without missing a beat. 2. QUALITY ("Better Care All Around"): How you're feeling really affects the care you give. If you're in good shape, both body and mind, you're more likely to be patient, kind, and really there for your family. But if you're stressed or tired, it's hard to do your best, and you don't want to let anyone down, right? 3. ROLE MODEL ("Lead by Example") (my favorite): By modeling healthy behaviour, you're showing everyone in the family how important it is to look after their health, just by taking care of your own. It's like you're teaching them, without even saying a word, that taking care of themselves is just as important as taking care of each other. It's a great way to build a family where everyone supports each other's well-being. Taking care of oneself is not merely a personal luxury but a necessity for survival and resilience, enabling one to continue the fight—be it in personal, familial, or broader work and socio-political arenas. #selfcare #mentalhealth #physicalhealth #wellbeing #healthcare

Prioritizing self care during the holidays can be quite a challenge. For some, it can also feel selfish at a time defined by the spirit of giving. But this is an important reminder that our individual and collective resilience, our health and wellness, is highly shared and interrelated. When one of us prioritizes self care, many others will likely benefit. Just as well, when one of us takes far more than gives, those resources are drained from others. The holiday season is a great opportunity to put this awareness into practice. To do our best not to judge those who are less fortunate. To share our resilience resources without overextending ourselves. To practice methods of self care without shame, in the spirit of giving and cultivating a connected environment for those around us. Wishing all a safe and meaningful holiday from Novah Healthcare! To learn more about resilience science and a radical approach to healthcare, contact us at Novah! We are now accepting new patients. 💪 YOU CAREGIVERS ARE HEROES!!! 💪 Taking care of our elderly loved ones is a rewarding and noble responsibility, but it can also be incredibly stressful. Whether you are a relative, friend, or an employee, caregivers often put their own needs aside, leading to burnout, anxiety, and even health problems. It's crucial to remember that stress relief isn't a luxury—it's a necessity. By prioritizing self-care, caregivers can provide better support and maintain a positive environment for those they care for. Engaging in regular exercise, practicing mindfulness or meditation, and ensuring adequate rest 😴 are fundamental steps in managing stress. Simple activities like a short walk 🚶♀️ , deep breathing exercises 😌 , or spending a few minutes in quiet reflection 🧘♀️ can make a significant difference. Taking breaks and scheduling time for hobbies and activities you enjoy is also essential.
