We asked a handful of our foster parents to share their experiences of what makes fostering an incredibly rewarding career and lifestyle choice. Our foster parents come from a range of backgrounds; some are single, others are in relationships. Some have fully dedicated their working lives to fostering, whereas others also choose to work a flexible job alongside caring for children at home. Our foster parents represent all cultures, ethnicities, faiths, genders, and sexualities. Everyone is encouraged to think about the difference they could make through fostering—we hope the stories of our current foster parents will help inspire you to make the change.

WHAT A SUCCESS!!! So many great things came out of tonight's Foster Greatness panel discussion on Building Bridges through Effective Support & Mentoring with Cheyenne Cobb, Cortney Jones, MSW, Phill Batt-Capps, LMSW, MPA, and Danielle Gletow! This conversation was vast and powerful. Some things we hope our community continues to reflect on: 1. We are in dire need of #authentic collaboration and resource sharing across organizations, individuals, and systems. Why are so many of us tackling the same issue but not putting our efforts together and using our competitive advantage? 2. We need to get #innovative and creative - and be okay with it! PEOPLE OVER POLICY! We've seen if done in a variety of ways and we have the ability to work together to be creative in ensuring our community's needs are being met effectively and efficiently. 3. #RELATIONSHIPS ARE CRITICAL TO THRIVING AND FULFILLING LIVES. Too many systemic barriers and policies exist that are preventing our community from developing the skills and awareness necessary to inform their relationship building. We have to start engaging our community AT THE START of developing programs, services, and more if we ever plan to have the positive and expansive impact that we aim to see.
