It appears my comment was deleted twice from the below post - so thought I'd share it here. Venue owners should listen as well as amplify; that's how we improve, take stock and evolve. The comment: The gig was great - no doubt. Foo's rocked! 🤘🎆 But there was a severe lack of operational efficiency at the gig venue. Examples: The bars were the worst I've experienced - no hyperbole. This is 2024, but multiple 40+ people queues across the stadium, concourses and on the pitch/standing area with dithering staff and stock issues. Then, the grim sight of single-use plastic cups covering the stadium floor (and I'm sure, the stadia seats) - fans kicking through rivers of clear plastic cups to get to exit points. Again, this is 2024 and there are many other sustainable options. Then the misery and danger of trying to get back to Stratford station from the stadium. If you missed the end of the gig, you might have stood a chance. If you stayed to the end like we did, it was a 2-hour kettling-session with little security and no policing. Appalling and at many times dangerous. I appreciate the hubris Graham Gilmore, but your team would benefit from an overhaul in operational efficiency. In almost 25 years of producing global events this was one of the worst operations I've witnessed as a fan. I'd be v happy to talk about solutions or strategic tactics over a cuppa if you do plan for London Stadium to hit London 2012 heights again, and be heralded for operational excellence as a viable international venue on the global circuit. Because again, Foo Fighters will have loved the atmosphere and the ticket sales - but every fan will feel let down by the venue. Sean Egan Candice Egan Amy Moqbel

Seattle Parks and Recreation will turn on field lighting on ballfields throughout the city on the evening of Wednesday, July 3 and Thursday, July 4 to protect the surfaces. The ballfield lights will be turned on at approximately 9 p.m. and most will be turned off at either 10 p.m. or 11 p.m., depending on the field. The lights will be turned on to discourage the use of fireworks. Fireworks are illegal in the city of Seattle and will destroy the artificial turf on the fields or surrounding facilities. The approximate replacement cost for the synthetic surface based on per average full-size field (110,000 square feet) is $1.2 million. https://lnkd.in/g4spTNey

Why have Ipswich Town FC been so effective at Set Pieces for the last couple of season? Starting with defending corners, some of the clear principles they use: - 5 zonal players in a Y shape. 3 of the 5 zonal players are the CBs + 1 FB, meaning 3 of the back 4 are in place ready for 2nd phase defending. - Clear role of attacking the ball for zonal players. - Markers role is to purely deal with the runners, with the CBs/biggest threats being the priority. - Effective and clear strategies for different situations, e.g the top far from the goal player in the 5 is there to go short. #setpieces #ipswich #championship #corners #setpiececoach #setpieceanalyst

The "WOW" factor. It's not just reserved for sports. "sell the sizzle" What are YOU providing as the "WOW" factor. Let me know in the comments. (Also, read the whole thing for some trash talk) Surprisingly, the "WOW" factor does indeed go beyond great product and service. Every industry can benefit. From staff uniforms, the look of branding and graphics, to (like the Las Vegas Raiders) the packaging of a product, you can be making a difference. - For chefs at Levy Restaurants, it's the model of "you eat with your eyes first" - One of my favorites is Foot Locker, all employees wore referee uniforms - Perhaps the "WOW" factor is making sure your wrapped company cars aren't rusted, dented or wrecked (not going to lie, a big pet peeve of mine) All of these are ways to sell the "sizzle" on top of the steak. Great product and great service is something we all must provide, but what are we doing beyond that. What is the thing that resonated in customers minds in a world where our competitors (lets be honest here) are also providing great product and service. For the Raiders, the simple creative packaging of their season tickets is driving the hype train. They are truly selling the SIZZLE (the packaging) and not the steak. Because lets be real, For the Raiders, the on-field performance isn't enough (shots fired. I had to. Go Buffalo Bills). Shoutout to Front Office Sports for a great highlight here. Wow. This is great from the Las Vegas Raiders Digital is now 100% the way of the world, but every now and then, something tangible and memorable will stand out. What I love about this is that they still use individual game tickets - it's that collectible element and having a new crisp ticket for each game. This could actually circle back round into the digital world - Season tickets could be a digital to improve on safety, efficiency and sustainability but you could still create that real game day experience with a digital booklet of tickets as a opposed to a single, season long card. Why not extend its purpose to collectible ticket stubs and other digital items or rewards, building engagement, connecting fans and importantly capturing and bringing data into the mix. There's a lot to delve and possibilities are pretty much endless, but the foundation still lies in the tried, tested and loved original way of delivering season tickets.
