The San Joaquin Valley Housing Collaborative is hosting its 12th Annual Affordable Housing Summit on September 14th at the Modesto DoubleTree Hotel. "Leading the Way: Creating an Equitable and Inclusive Future for the San Joaquin Valley," the conference will address the housing crisis and how the Jan Joaquin Valley is leading the way in creating diverse, equitable, and inclusive communities. Mogavero Architects own, Erin Reschke will be moderating a panel on building with resilience along with panelists, Tom Collishaw, President and CEO of Self-Help Enterprises, and Sara Tepfer, Senior Energy and Sustainability Consultant at Arup. Erin Reschke, LEED, AP, has nearly two decades of professional experience in architectural design with her expertise in sustainability and green building. She studied sustainable urban design and urban agriculture while living in Curitiba, Brazil, an international example of successful, sustainable design. While interning in Honaunau, Hawaii on a small-scale, organic farm. She received her Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) from the Regenerative Design Institute in 2010. "Building with Resilience in Mind and Why This Matters," Erin, and panelists will address the pressing challenges of extreme weather for affordable housing in the San Joaquin Valley. Our panel will explore strategies to create sustainable and resilient housing for the region's residents. We will examine the impact of climate change, socioeconomic factors, and urban planning as it relates to sustainable housing and the opportunities for innovative approaches to create resiliency.
