Navigating Organizational Design Challenges: Question: If an employee is working two different jobs at the same time (40%, 60%), should they appear in one or two positions on the organizational chart? 👉 Answer: Focus on functions and results when designing your organizational chart, not just on individual roles. Each job function should have its own box in the chart to clearly define the work and outcomes needed by your business. For instance, if an employee serves as both an Account Manager and a Partner Manager, you should create two separate boxes, one for each role. Include the employee’s name under each respective role. This setup not only clarifies responsibilities but also makes it easier to manage changes, such as replacing someone in one of the roles if needed. This approach ensures your organizational structure supports business needs effectively and adapts flexibly to changes.
