The CoRE Learning Model transformed Denzyl Moncrieff's career path, leading him to become the first Aboriginal male to earn a BSc in Applied Geology from Curtin University and embark on a successful career with IGO Ltd. "As an Aboriginal person, the CoRE Learning Model was really easy for me to grasp and excel at. It was practical and hands-on. There were field trips with time on Country. It was more about the final product and the lessons you learned along the way, rather than having the same old, boring style of teaching where there was only one way to achieve the final product." - Denzyl Moncrieff Through hands-on learning, field trips as part of our CoRE Learning Model and our Gamifying Earth Science (GES) initiative, CoRE is preparing the next generation of STEM leaders. Denzyl's story shows how powerful immersive education and industry engagement can be. Subject Enrichment Activities- Social Science -Importance and Benefits Subject enrichment activities in Social Science are incredibly beneficial for students. Subject enrichment activities help students to develop their understanding for society, culture, history, and geography. Subject enrichment activities like debates, role-playing, field trips, and project-based learning, engage students in practical and meaningful ways. Subject enrichment activities make the subject matter more relevant and interesting. Subject enrichment activities help students to develop critical thinking and analytical skills as they explore various social issues and perspectives. Subject enrichment activities enhance students' abilities to communicate effectively, work collaboratively, and develop empathy by understanding different cultures and viewpoints. We firmly believe that enrichment activities in Social Science not only strengthen academic knowledge but also prepare students to be informed, thoughtful, and active participants in their communities and the wider world. #CBSE #rajeevelt #Assessment #

This week I was invited by Eva Rothgang to speak at OTH Amberg-Weiden to a group of PhD students about my own PhD-journey. I have never told the story in whole before. 👩🎓 It was a very exciting moment for me to reflect my PhD years in whole. The ups and downs. The inevitable moment of deep doubt if I would be able to finish the project. The moment of relieve passing the doctoral viva (Rigorosum) with top grade. I realized how much this bumpy road has thought me. Of course there is a huge amount of academic knowledge. 📖There are equally many lessons on life. 👩🏫 How to handle insecurity. How to handle pressure. How to handle feedback and contradictory opinions from others. How to manage work, writing the PhD thesis, family, rest, relationships, self doubt and self growth all at once. 💡It thought me that not giving up is hard but worth it. It thought me that being consistent is the the key to success. It thought me that learning never ends. It thought me that the most important thing in life are the people around you, who support you. Writing a PhD thesis are years and years of work, sacrifice, growth, discovery, learning, anxiety and joy. It is an enormous project and it helps you become a more resilient, self-conscious and confident person. 💁♀️ It still helps me every day to do my job, to understand the situativity of life, to reflect, that everyone has their own challenges in life (no matter how privileged they may or may not sound). Always be kind! Thank you so much at Eva for giving me the space to reflect on all this. And thank you for everyone listening and for the very kind responses to my story 🙏 #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion #Belonging #PhD #lessonslearned

When your high school mentee/protégé has not only reached her sophomore level studying forensic chemistry with a minor in Geology at Louisiana State University but has also become a mentor, you smile cheek to cheek. 😁 😁 😊 As a mentor with the Louisiana State University EnvironMentor program, now directed by Dr. Vanessa van Heerden, we completed two science research projects (one each year) for two years while she was in high school and presented her findings with my second mentee at the LSU Discover Undergraduate Research Program Day 2022 & 2023. In 2023, my mentee pair took first place in the poster presentations and high school category and received an award 🏆 to attend the National Science Fair in D.C. 👏👏😁😁 This program is a research experience and college preparatory program for underrepresented high school students in the sciences. After she started her science career at LSU, we periodically bumped into each other, shared updates on our progress with school work, and encouraged one another. On Wednesday, we bumped into each other, screamed excitedly, and hugged one another. She shared all her progress and how she enjoys her classes, navigating the challenging ones, and managing her time. She also shared her participation as a mentor in a peer mentoring program on campus. I could see how excited she was about her involvement and the impact she was making. 👏👏👏 Funny story: When asked what motivated and sustained her interest in science during the mentorship program, she said, “Blame Elaine,” and I said, “𝘽𝙡𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥.” ❤️ This is a first-hand witness of the impact of mentorship, and this experience has shaped my interest in building a STEM pipeline for the younger generation. I want to learn more about providing and improving access to STEM education for this population. How are your mentoring relationships going? What catch-up opportunities have you had with your past mentees? Do you have opportunities to celebrate their progress and cheer them on? I hope your week continues to be progressively successful. ❤️ #mentoring #mentorship #STEM #Science #Research #Relationships #CollegePreparation #STEMCareer
