Insights from My HR Internship at Firstcry I recently completed two weeks here at FirstCry, diving deep into the domain of Human Resource. This experience has been beyond just learning theories from textbooks — it’s been a journey of practical knowledge and real-time experiences. Over these two weeks, I had the opportunity to: • Learnt the basics of HR : From the ground up, I was introduced to the core functions of HR, gaining a solid understanding of what goes into the process. • Sourcing CVs & Recruitment Portals: I explored various platforms for sourcing candidates, tried out different recruitment tools, and learned the intricacies of finding the right talent. • From Sourcing to Onboarding:I got hands-on experience in the full recruitment cycle — from sourcing resumes, scheduling interviews, conducting candidate interactions, closing offers, and even assisting with the onboarding process. • Personal & Professional Growth: Beyond professional development, this internship has also helped me improve my communication skills, step out of my comfort zone, and gain confidence in working in a completely new environment. She spoke excellent English and could narrate the 7 steps of the recruitment process with no flaws. We thought she was the Perfect Candidate until she rejected our offer 1 week later. Her excuse? The internship did not align with her personal and professional goals. As a seasoned Recruiter, I sensed she might have been buying time when she requested an extension to decide as she informed us she was weighing other options after receiving our offer letter. Yet, I chose to give her the benefit of the doubt. This experience left us reflecting deeply. While we understand that internships are about mutual growth, it’s also crucial for candidates to carefully evaluate their intentions before applying. Internships are not just about ticking a box - they are about commitment, contribution and taking a step closer to your career goals.
