What would you do if your entire world was turned upside down in a single day? I wiped sweat from my brow, surveying the bustling kitchen. Same old, same old. Chop, sizzle, plate. Repeat. Our customers loved it. Consistency was king. The new guy sauntered in. Cocky grin, fancy knife set. "Chef Mike?" He extended his hand. "I'm Alex. Ready to shake things up." My jaw clenched. "We don't shake here. We perfect." He laughed. Actually laughed. "Perfect's boring. Let's innovate." I grabbed a pan, metal clanging. "Listen up, hotshot. This kitchen's run one way for 20 years. My way." Alex's eyes narrowed. "And how's that working out? Still packing 'em in like the 90s?" Low blow. Numbers had been slipping. But that wasn't the point. "We stick to the classics," I growled. "People come here knowing exactly what they'll get." He snorted. "Yeah, mediocrity." My fist slammed the counter. "You little—" "Enough!" Our owner, Sarah, burst in. "What the hell's going on?" I pointed at Alex. "This punk wants to destroy everything we've built." Alex rolled his eyes. "I want to save it, you dinosaur." Sarah rubbed her temples. "Both of you, my office. Now." We glared daggers at each other all the way there. Sarah leaned forward. "Mike, Alex is here because we need fresh ideas. Alex, Mike's experience is invaluable. You two will work together. Figure it out." The door slammed behind us. I turned to Alex. "One chance. Show me what you got." His eyes lit up. "You won't regret it." I already did. #Consistency #FoodPreparation #RestaurantBusiness #RestaurantOperation #FastFoodBusiness #CasualDiningBusiness #FoodandBeverageBusiness #HospitalityBusiness

What does the word 'home' mean to you? For some, it's the cozy embrace of familiar surroundings, filled with warmth and cherished memories. For others, it's the laughter echoing through shared spaces, the comfort of a loved one's presence, and the aroma of home-cooked meals wafting from the kitchen. Not a VC related post but even better subject : Best coffee shops in downtown Minneapolis to plan a coffee chat at👇 I think I am fairly qualified to be an expert on this subject after going to law school in Downtown Minneapolis and now working here as well. This has led to over 50 coffee chats. 1. Spyhouse Emery Hotel - Great lobby with plenty of seating. It’s always awkward when you plan to meet someone somewhere and there’s no room. Spyhouse is always a good bet and never too loud. Iced Carmella or Spygirl is the move here 🕵️♀️ 2. Cafe Ceres Washington Sqaure - Beautiful coffee shop with so much natural light. Even better when is raining outside for good vibes. The location has had a couple different names across the years but I’m glad it’s still around. I always go with the Salted Maple Late here 😍 3. Socca Cafe Four Seasons - If you haven’t checked out the new Four Seasons, I would. The coffee is fine but the pastries steal the show. Anything Gavin Kaysen related is to die for. Go with a simple croissant here 🥐 4. Gray fox - Pro tip, there’s two locations and they are basically across the street from eachother so don’t get them mixed up. Both are in big lobbies. Can get kind of busy during peak hours. Honorable Mentions - Mother Dough Capella Tower, small but great - Fairgrounds, not downtown (north loop) but a staple in my rotation -Frgmnt, (North Loop) great place if you can get a table. Also dog friendly. -Frgmnt (NE) actually my preferred place to meet someone if not downtown. Massive seating area What did I miss? Hate my rankings? Other thoughts?

Strategic Communications Executive | Driving Market Leadership for Emerging Disruptors & Established Companies | Former Gap Inc. PR & Corporate Communications Lead
Unearthing a budding brand's story is fun - kind of like removing a lid from a pot full of possibilities. At times it's challenging. I wonder - how can we make this newsworthy while distinguishing what the brand truly stands for (and garnering earned media interest)? But with research, data, collaboration, creativity (and patience), I find it eventually comes together. The concept for Cookery - the art of cooking -- an independent cookware retailer specializing in personalized service -- was that reducing food waste and saving time and money is supercharged with the right kitchen tools. (Read: you're missing out if you're just focusing on grocery choices!) Founder Alison Fletcher explained how to millions of Cityline viewers today. #storytelling #earnedmedia #authenticity #branding #trust #leadershippositioning #verifiedcommunications #mediatraining #keymessages

Food. If you don’t have it on your menu, you’re losing money. I’m not saying you need to build out a complete kitchen, but as our industry vies for dollars, food is now a must-have part of the taproom experience. Let’s begin with a conversation I had. Me: “Do you offer food?” Taproom Manager: “No.” Me: “If people come around dinner, what do they normally do?” Taproom Manager: “They order a pint and go have dinner and more drinks at the restaurant next door.” Did you know visits with food see tabs 88% higher? View the data and strategies to maximize your experience.
