It's not every day that a lawn care salesman becomes the sales manager of a manufacturing company. Yet, here I am. My journey? Anything but ordinary. I married into the Ramos family, where a strict 'no family in business' policy meant my path to ARK Ramos was anything but direct. I aimed for a business degree, excelled in lawn care sales, and even bought and sold a successful franchise with my wife, Courtney. When fatherhood called, I embraced being a stay-at-home dad, squeezing in contract sales for A.R.K. Ramos on the side. My transition from the lawn to the sales floor wasn't planned. It was driven by necessity, curiosity, and life's unpredictable turns. Now, as Sales Manager, I navigate pricing, catalogs, and strategy, applying lessons from the lawns to the manufacturing world. Here's what I learned: Your path doesn't define your destination. Adaptability, a willingness to learn, and hard work can lead you to roles you never imagined. To those navigating their own unconventional paths: Embrace the detours. They might just lead you to where you're meant to be. #CareerJourney #SalesLeadership #UnconventionalPaths #ARKRamos #ManufacturingExcellence

Q3, 2024- I missed quota for the 1st time ever. Here’s the hard truth for new reps: - Prospect or die. If prospecting goes down, risk to your pipeline goes up. - Busy work is quicksand. The less time spend selling, the greater the risk to your pipeline. - The more pipeline you have, the less you worry about uncontrollable factors pushing/icing a deal. - sales calls/emails have a compound effect. Gotta trust the process and do the daily trench work. - and so much more. At the end of the day, you’re more than just your number But that’s not to say you don’t have a lot of control. Hard work. Smart work. Every day. Every week. Do it and do it until the job gets done. P.S. speaking of trench work, check out Will Falkenborg 🌭’s newsletter “The Trench Letter.” #sdr #sales #ae — I’m Brandon Jeppson, and I’ce been committed to figuring out winning sales patterns for 5600 hours. I also really really admire Donald Glover’s creative talents and think he’s underrated.

Sales managers! what are your biggest pet peeves? I'll go 1st. When you hire a sales rep who promises he'll make a ton of sales. Only to be the lowest result sales person on the team. Bothers the hell out of me. I would rather a rep tell me out righ: "I'm not the best at sales but I want to learn." Compare to: "I'll be the best sales person your company has ever seen." I don't know about you but lying grinds my gears. So what is your biggest pet peeve as a sales manager? #salesmanager #sales #frustration

Live look at my inbox.. “Hi Charlie, hope all is well. Any industrial deals we should be taking a look at? Please let me know” “Hi Charlie, we’re actively seekin small-bay industrial deals in the following states; SC, NC, TN and GA. Our criteria includes: Purchase Price: $2- $6M range with a sweet spot of $4-5M At least a 7% cash on cash return. Multi-tenant light industrial Small bay, preferably 2k SF per tenant or less. (No tenant occupies more than 30% of the space.) Built on or after 1980. Minimum office / retail buildout. Not an auto park, no marijuana.” First email almost always gets ignored. Having a detailed criteria and putting the effort into communicating that criteria to the brokerage community will always yield favorable results. The second email is someone I’ve scheduled a call with and will be building a longterm relationship with through out my career. I can assure you they will be top of mind for me when I uncover opportunities within thier criteria.

Fun fact about me: my first job was as a sales associate at a jewelry store. Some coworkers and I were talking about our first jobs the other day, and I’d love to know: what was yours? Something I’ve found to be true over the years is that although previous job experience may not directly translate to a role, it is still valuable. Maybe your first job mowing lawns doesn't seem to apply to the fluid power industry, but jobs such as this teach us skills needed for any job, such as pushing through strenuous circumstances to see a task completed to the end. A previous job experience may not make it on your resume, but that doesn't make it any less valuable when forming soft skills like work ethic, integrity, and adaptability. While we do look for industry experience during the hiring process, we are also on the hunt for individuals who are seeking growth. Comment your first job below!
