The timber accents throughout the home’s interior feature a repeating “hammer beam truss” motif. The warm wood tones beautifully contrast with the bright white of the ceilings and walls. There's something so captivating about the intricacy of crown molding, especially in homes with soaring 10-12ft ceilings. It’s a detail I absolutely love, particularly in the grand manor-style homes I often work with. The beauty of larger moldings is that they aren’t just subtle accents — they demand attention, becoming a true statement in the room. In older homes, you’ll often find layers of molding that showcase timeless craftsmanship and attention to detail. When clients want to add molding to their homes, I always source pieces with historical influence, ensuring the space feels rich in character and thoughtfully designed. #ceilingmolding #homeinspiration #interiorarchitecture #crownmolding #interiordesign #timelessdesign #interiordecor #historicalhomes #designinspiration #interiordesigner #designdetails

Here are a few tips to keep in min when selecting timbers: • DO use elm for traditional solid seats • DO use lime for intricate carving • DO use oak for exterior building structures and joinery • DO use teak and iroko for exterior furniture and wet areas • DO use sapele for painted windows and doors • DO avoid using oak and poplar in wet areas. Oak reacts badly with iron in damp environments and poplar will turn to pulp • DO consider dimensions as not all trees are the same size or grow straight and clean To find out more, download our top tips guide today. 3D Floor Plan A 3D floor plan is a virtual model that provides a bird’s-eye view of a building’s layout. These plans are commonly used in architecture and construction to visually communicate the design of a structure, making it easier to understand spatial relationships. A 3D floor plan typically includes walls, doors, windows, and other key elements, but excludes the ceiling to give a clear view of the interior. There are two types of 3D floor plans: Unfurnished – Displays only the building's structural outline, without furniture. Furnished – Includes furniture and decor, offering a complete representation of the interior space.
