Ways to Be a Light: Get Kids Involved Looking for ways to get your kids more involved? Here are some ideas for age-appropriate #projects that would help others, build “team spirit”, and teach valuable lessons. It is a great #family, team, or classroom project! Consider for: senior class projects, Brighter Futures hours, Kiwanis or Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts projects, family reunions, youth sports teams. 1. Clothing #donation drives – Collect clothes they can’t fit anymore to give to kids at family shelters. Setup donation drives at kids’ games and events for parents to drop off. Organizations such as Metropolitan Ministries operate family shelters. Contact a family shelter to coordinate donations for their residents. 2. BOGO (Buy One, Give One) school supplies drive – Raise money to purchase school supplies for kids in need. Kids receive school supply lists every year. Use the list to get a matching set of each item to donate to a child whose family is unable to afford supplies. 3. Food pantries – Some food pantries offer hours and volunteering opportunities for youths. They need younger people to help with things like warehousing tasks, food preparation, donation processing. Check sites such as VolunteerMatch.org for postings from local food pantries that allow kids to volunteer. Teach them early how to be a light for others 😊 #bealight #waystobealight #kidvolunteering #matthew516

Love-based support is essential for each of us, from the first steps to the whole journey through life. Especially, during challenges or difficult times that come into our lives sometimes gradually and sometimes rapidly. As a mother of four children myself, I can confirm that isolation is real. As parents or caregivers, I believe that we should teach our children as early as possible that emotions are real. Thus, they will be able to identify and express their feelings and ask for support as needed. Would love to see more curricula centered on parenting, communication, leadership, emotions, etc. which all could be linked to history, science, math, or language classes. What are your thoughts or comments?
"No one tells you about the loneliness" – Jocelyn, Carya Participant Parenting can often feel isolating. Carya offers a wide range of programs for parents of young children to promote bonding, connection and family functioning, equipping parents and caregivers with the knowledge and techniques needed for a strong start. All donations made before August 31st are eligible to be matched up to 50% through Rogers Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink. Your contribution will help provide barrier-free early childhood parenting programs, giving children and their families the best start in life. Visit https://lnkd.in/e5Ced2P5 and donate today! Executive Performance Coach | Somatic Experiencing Practitioner | Generative Culture Champion | When we tap into our innate creative confidence, we can collectively spark a movement that makes the world a better place
I just learned that today is National Single Parent Day - a day dedicated to recognizing the extraordinary efforts of single parents everywhere. I can quite literally think of no more demanding, relentless, all-encompassing experience than single parenting. If you know a single parent, consider giving them some love today (and often). 1 - offer to watch their child 2 - make them a homemade meal 3 - donate to: https://lnkd.in/gtp77Kpx which provides resources to single parents who make too much to qualify for government assistant, but not enough to come close to thriving Single parents, we see you.

Visionary, Community Violence Intervention Consultant, Grant Writer, Positive Behavior Support Consultant, Subject Matter Expert for the Institute for Intergovernmental Research, Gang Interventionist, Founder
Approximately 1 in 28 children in the United States has a parent incarcerated(jail or prison), heightening the risk of perpetuating this intergenerational cycle. Consequently, the involvement of community members and organizations dedicated to supporting teenagers and families is crucial. Numerous community-based organizations are actively addressing this issue. Consider aligning your support with one that resonates with your values by contributing through donations or volunteering. While I passionately endorse my organization, there are numerous others making a significant impact. If you are involved in initiatives aiding families or teenagers in our community, kindly share your organization's information and mission below to facilitate awareness and support. Collaboratively, we can make strides toward positively impacting the lives of children and families in our community. #intervention #prevention #arkansas
