Today is #BellLetsTalk day - a mental health awareness initiative focused on fighting stigma, improving access to care, supporting world-class research, and leading by example in workplace mental health. On this day, Canadians can donate $5 by text with 100% of the proceeds going to six youth mental health providers: Integrated Youth Services, http://ms.spr.ly/6042UJPNQ, Kids Help Phone, National Association of Friendship Centres, Strongest Families Institute and Youth In Mind Foundation. This Mental Health Awareness Week, let's remember that mental health is a year-round concern. Tragically mental health is a disease that took both my mother and sister (30 years apart). While there have been positive strides taken, unfortunately, mental health issues still carry a taboo, making it difficult for people to talk openly about their struggles. But it's important to know that it's okay to not be okay. Stress and anxiety are not signs of weakness, and we must be kind to ourselves and those around us. As professionals, many of us feel pressure to maintain a positive exterior, which can be tough when dealing with personal challenges. That's why it's essential to check in with our colleagues, friends, and loved ones regularly. Just because you're not currently struggling doesn't mean someone close to you isn't. So, take a moment to ask them how they're doing today. It is ok to not be ok and, stress and anxiety is not a sign of weakness, especially in today's 'always on' society. Let's break the stigma around mental health and support each other, not just this week, but every week of the year. #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #depressionawareness #mentalhealthawarenessmonth #mentalhealthmatters Text Shout UK on 85258 Call Mind on 0300 1123 3393 Call Samaritans: 116 123 SOS Silence of Suicide on 0808 115 1505 PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide on 0800 068 4141 or Text 88247 Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) on 0800 58 58 58

As we approach the end of financial year, a renewed focus on mental health has never been more pressing. While I take a brief pause in my career to spend quality time with my boy as a stay at home dad, this will be front of mind. Our time is precious. If you or anyone you know has struggled with mental health I encourage you to support a worthy cause with us at ACOR Consultants. #pushupchallenge #mentalhealthawareness

This week is Mental Health Awareness week in the UK, a topic that is very important to me. The theme this year is “Movement: moving more for your mental health” – if I was to list some top-tips with the theme of mental health in mind, using movement as medicine would be right up there. My others would be: - Sometimes you don’t need to fix, you just need to listen. - Use non-judgemental language when talking – the term “commit suicide” for example implies fault, which is incredibly unhelpful and inaccurate. - Treat yourself as you would treat a friend. For more on this, check out Kristin Neff’s Ted Talk on self-compassion. - There is no shame in struggling, but there’s huge bravery in talking about it. - Most importantly be kind, curious and patient, with yourself and others. https://lnkd.in/eYmEYu-h #mentalhealth #MHAW2024 #MoveForMentalHealth

Everyone needs to hear this today: Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. At Charity Extra, we’re fortunate to work with incredible charities that support individuals and families facing mental health challenges. I’ve had the privilege of seeing firsthand how UK charities like: ➢ JTeen ➢ Keren ➢ The Helpline ➢ Project Lily ➢ Noa Girls … dedicate their time, energy, and expertise to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health. They save lives every day. That’s no exaggeration. Mental health doesn’t discriminate, and we all need to do more to encourage people to seek help and get the counseling, support, and compassion they deserve. If you or someone you know is struggling, I encourage you to reach out to one of these amazing organizations. And even if you’re unsure if someone is going through a tough time, it never hurts to ask them a simple but important question: “How are you doing?” One conversation can make a big difference.
