Tata's Pursuit of Bisleri: A Strategic Move Tata's interest in acquiring Bisleri was primarily driven by its ambition to strengthen its position in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector. Potential benefits: Market Leadership: Bisleri is a dominant player in the Indian packaged water market. Acquiring it would have catapulted Tata Consumer Products to the top position in this segment. Brand Value: Bisleri is a well-established and trusted brand with a strong consumer base. This would have significantly enhanced Tata's FMCG portfolio. Distribution Network: Bisleri has a robust distribution network, which could have been leveraged by Tata for its other FMCG products. Diversification: It would have allowed Tata to diversify its revenue streams and reduce dependence on other business segments. However, the deal eventually fell through. While the exact reasons for the termination are not entirely clear, it is speculated that differences in valuation and other strategic considerations might have played a role.

Started my career with a challenging assignment of commissioning Primary Steel Making section at Tata Steel and 15 years later, commissioned and led the biggest food park in India at Jubilant FoodWorks Ltd. In this journey of 1600°C to -18°C, one thing remained the same - leading large teams. If I have to pick one virtue that helped me successfully handle this, it will be trustworthiness. Celebrating 5 Remarkable Years at #Corning India!   As I hit the half-decade mark at Corning India, otherwise known as “baby years” at Corning Incorporated, I wanted to reflect on this incredible journey – a journey that's been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride, yet filled with exponential learning, achievements, and, most importantly, resilience.   Rewind to five years ago, I stepped into a role that was about to test every skill in my arsenal. Little did I know, the universe had a "special" challenge in store – the COVID pandemic. The subsequent 2.5 years were like navigating through dog years – each month packed with a decade's worth of learning and challenges.   Balancing short-term urgencies with our long-term visions felt like juggling flaming torches while blindfolded. Yet, it was the unparalleled spirit of our team that turned these daunting tasks into milestones. With resilience as our backbone and a growth mindset as our compass, we didn't just weather the storm; we sailed through it with flags flying high, achieving commendable success for our business.   I often say, "A team that can find humor in adversity is invincible". I'm proud to say my team is just that – a bunch of superheroes with a knack for laughter!   As I look back with pride, I'm filled with gratitude for every lesson, every challenge, and every win. But let's not dwell too much on the past because, in the world of Corning, the best is always yet to come. As I near my one year sales stint at Berger Paints India, I’ve learnt one key lesson during this period. Consistency trumps intensity in sales. Similar to working out at the gym. Can you expect to get in shape by going to the gym 5 hours a day, once per week? But, if you go to the gym 6 days a week for just 30 minutes a day, something magical happens. You get into the rhythm. In 2020 many of my peers dissuaded me from buying equity shares in Tata Motors owing to the chip shortage during Pandemic Global reliance on top players from Taiwan, South Korea & the US led to a global distruption where supply chain were affected and lead times were peaking as high as 23 weeks. This affected the automotive industry that heavily relied on semiconductor chips.... Slow manufacturing, sluggish sales, pessimistic sentiments... Things started normalising like everything else after pandemic. As Tata Motors keeps etching new 52-week highs everyday, that's not why I came here to tell how much money I made... India is all set to setup a semiconductor plant in Dholera, Gujarat, an assembly unit in Morigaon, Assam and a chip packaging facility in Sanand, Gujarat With chip being an essential unit for the automotive industry, gaming industry, space, defence, and other electronic industries, the scope for India to be at par with the global players is immense! A little too early to celebrate success but this makes me supremely proud today. A vision is what makes all the difference! 🌱
