I still clearly remember the day United Fresh was founded and my excitement and anxiety about this idea. I remember speaking to our first supply partners, approaching them with our concept and seeing how immediately they understood and were so enthused about the idea. I remember the first three-hour presentation to a significant client. Selling the idea of bringing fantastic regional companies together to operate as a national supply entity. Where we can bring superb regional UK produce to the doors of their caterers, whilst all the time reducing food miles, lowering their carbon footprint, supporting communities and enabling fantastic regional produce to be served closer to where it is genuinely grown. (All of this took place a long time before most of the people even talked about what a sustainable supply chain could look like) I also remember exactly where I was sitting with my founding partner as we got the call from that client to say we’d been awarded. Every step of the way, we were affirmed in our decision to found United Fresh and how genuinely excited people were (and still are) about enjoying our high-intensity fresh supply service. Seventeen years later, we are still affirmed by how passionately people still agree with our mission. Our plan remains to bring great fresh supply to open-minded, service-driven, fantastic customers, and our overarching goal is to provide a sustainable supply chain for future generations. So many people have been part of our story, all of whom have played such an important part, too many to think.
