🏅 As the 2024 Olympics has now come to a close, you might be feeling inspired by the amazing spirit and determination shown by our Aussie athletes. Our team has been following closely and loved every minute of the action. Some have also been inspired to take on new challenges — whether on the track, in the office, or both. One such team member is Craig Stanley, CHU’s National Business Development Manager, who takes the concept of going the extra mile to heart — literally. Our broker and strata manager partners know Craig well, as he is often the face of CHU’s monthly educational webinars and in person at conferences and events with his fellow CHU BDM team. In our latest article, Craig shares his passion for marathon training, and how he applies similar principles to his personal and professional life - setting long-term goals and staying consistent to achieve success. Whether you’re inspired to take up running or aiming to set new goals in your career, Craig’s story is a testament to what can be achieved with determination and a passion for the long run. Redefining Success Our daughter, recently competed in the Queensland school track and field state championships, earning a gold and silver medal. However, her true success goes far beyond these results. As part of reflecting where she’s come from in the last year I was acutely aware of on how we often we measure success by outcomes—KPIs, medals, titles, and personal bests. While our daughters achievements are significant, they alone don’t tell the full story. Instead, success was about overcoming adversity. In the semi-finals, our girl made a significant error but still pushed through to secure a spot in the final. She then had to pull her self out of the disappointment to compete in another event. Her resilience and determination in the face of this learning is what I truly define as success; rising after disappointment. Gathering her strength she excelled in the next event illustrating her ability to bounce back and perform under pressure is a testament to her character. Success was her personal growth. Our daughter also ran a personal best in the heats, the quickest of the whole championships for her age, showcasing her continuous improvement and dedication. It’s not just about holding the fastest time in Queensland; it’s about striving to be better than she was yesterday. Quantitative measures like medals and performances are important, but they don’t communicate the full picture. Qualitative aspects—resilience, determination, and personal growth—add depth and soul to the data. They highlight what truly matters and provide a more holistic view of success. Let’s challenge the traditional narratives around success and start valuing the qualitative ways of measuring what really matters. As we do this, check out the incredibly infectious smile of pure pride and elation! #Success #Resilience #PersonalGrowth #TrackAndField #data #qualatative #souldata

What does it take to be an Olympic champion? I wouldn’t know, but Grace Prendergast would. As a 5-time world champion, Grace knows what it’s like to be the best ON EARTH in her field. So, how can all of us be high-performers? ⚡️Pressure comes from focusing on the past (what has been said) and the future (what you need to do), focus on being present to overcome this. ⚡️Don’t let the current stereotype for “success put you off doing things YOUR way, you might just have the secret ingredient no one sees. ⚡️Don’t let the outcome be your motivation before you’ve truly understood the value of the journey: the metric of success you choose will dictate your future. Grace’s coach gave their team a gold nugget which represented a shared vision of success. Knowing how to get the best from herself + bringing others along on that journey meant that Grace and her team achieved the dream & now she shares those tactics with us. If you want to learn how to get your own gold nugget, listen to this; https://lnkd.in/gcwmZKWU

I believe it’s really important at this time of year to take stock and think carefully about your goals for the months ahead, last week the #NovartisDublin teams had the pleasure of attending our Winter Conference where we embarked on a transformative journey to set our goals for 2024. One of the highlights of the conference was the inspiring story shared by Galwegian, @Damien Browne. In 2022, Damien undertook an incredible journey from New York to Galway on a rowing boat. His experience taught us valuable lessons about #motivation and #perseverance. Some of my key takeaways from Damien's session were: - Perseverance is crucial, even during difficult moments. Adopt a "don't stop" mindset and keep pushing forward. - Milestones play a significant role in any journey. Setting them allows us to reflect on our achievements during challenging times. Although our own journey may differ from Damien's, the message remains the same: it's not about what we do, but how we do it. Challenges may knock us down at times, but they also have the power to lift us up. Thank you @Damien Browne for sharing your inspirational experience and valuable lessons with us- they will undoubtedly help us stay focused on achieving our goals for 2024. If not now, when? #NovartisIrelandInspires

A Comparative Analysis of Strategy and Endurance Gerda Steyn, an accomplished runner known for her extraordinary feats in the South-African Comrades Marathon and now the Olympics, once remarked, “No one wakes up and decides to do Comrades and Olympics in one year, once you are confident in what you have done previously, then you can start challenging yourself knowing what you are capable of.” This profound statement underlines a universal truth about achieving greatness. This requires meticulous planning, unyielding endurance, and the relentless pursuit of self-improvement. Whether one is a Comrades runner or a business owner, the journey to success involves parallel strategies and mindsets. This article delves into the similarities in goal setting, strategy development, and endurance between these two seemingly disparate paths. Read more: https://1l.ink/447RJVP

I didn’t author this post where it starts with “what if”…. What I will add - as a Cross Country mom, I have witnessed many of these moments which we can use as leadership opportunities both personally and professionally. Each time I witness a runner helping an exhausted runner across the finish line Each time I hear a runner from an opposing team say “good run, I was trying to pace with you the entire race” The last runner NEVER crosses the finish line without a crowd cheering them on The genuine hugs and high fives when the runners cross the line, regardless of their time or placement. It’s a beautiful sport - I get tears in my eyes seeing the excitement and satisfaction as runners cross that line. Knowing they poured their heart into running their best race. Trust, Encourage, Respect, Believe… What if we lived life like we were all in a cross country meet? What if we watched other people and recognized that we're all just trying to get across the finish line? What if we understood that some people are running as hard as they can but battling illnesses, invisible injuries, and internal struggles? Every step is hard, but they're trying not to quit. What if we cheered for everyone even if they weren't on our team? What if we realized just finishing something, no matter how long it took us or how messy it seemed, was enough? In fact, it was a win. What if we used every race as an opportunity to learn more about ourselves and how we could use each other for support, inspiration, and help to reach our goals? What if we cheered loud for the winner, but even louder for the one who comes in after because they accomplished something great, too? In a world that tells us it's about me, me, me, what if we started living to support everyone brave enough to be in the race? What if we started treating our lives like we were all in the same cross country meet? What a beautiful world that would be. Love hard.

Ever wondered why you’re not as "successful" as the person/people you admire? 🙄 We all have. But here’s something crucial to remember: Everyone progresses at their own pace. Take a moment to reflect on this. Success doesn’t happen overnight. It’s about: → Following the process → Being consistent → Believing in yourself Here’s a quick, actionable guide: Set clear goals ↳ Know what you want to achieve. Develop a strategy ↳ Outline the steps to reach your goals. Stay consistent ↳ Even when it gets tough. Reflect and adjust ↳ Learn from your experiences. Celebrate small wins ↳ Recognise your progress! Remember, everyone’s journey is different. But with persistence and belief, you’ll get there. PS: I’ve been reflecting on this a lot lately, especially watching my teenager grow at his own pace - whether it’s in rugby or his GCSE assessments. It’s incredible how progress quietly unfolds when we simply keep showing up. So here’s to perseverance 💪, even when it feels tough, and trusting the journey! PPS: A proud moment - my boy’s first rugby win last Sunday 🏉 (shh... don’t let him know I posted this 🤫 but the smile says it all). #TrustTheProcess #Perseverance #Progress #ProudParentMoment #TeenGrowth #RugbyWin #GCSEJourney #KeepShowingUp #MarketResearch #GrowthStrategy #StayMotivated #LearningAndGrowing

🎯 Setting Goals, Overcoming Obstacles, and Celebrating Wins – Together! 🎯 On a crisp autumn morning, Lisa, Helen, Sue, and I stood together at the starting line of the Robin Hood Half Marathon 🦌. This wasn’t just a race for us—it was the culmination of months of preparation, perseverance, and dedication. The four of us had been balancing the chaos of daily life with early morning runs and weekend long-distance sessions. Each of us had our own reasons for running: some for health, others for personal goals, and all of us for the sense of achievement that comes with pushing past our limits. More importantly, it was the strength of our community and camaraderie that motivated us. 🏰 The course took us through the streets of Nottingham, passing historic landmarks like Wollaton Park and Nottingham Castle. The crowd’s cheers were our fuel during the tough uphill stretches. But what kept us going the most? Each other. 🤝 We supported one another with words of encouragement and laughter when the going got tough. By staying connected, we crossed the finish line together—celebrating not only the completion of 13.1 miles but also the accomplishment of personal goals that felt larger than the race itself. 💡 Takeaway: Whether in business or running a half marathon, achieving success comes down to setting ambitious goals, overcoming obstacles, and surrounding yourself with the right people who support and uplift you. 👉 What’s the biggest challenge you’ve overcome recently, and who helped you get there? Let’s celebrate those partnerships! Comment below 👇 #GoalSetting #Teamwork #Perseverance #Leadership #HalfMarathon

Rohan Bopanna's Victory at the Australian Open 2024 – A Tale of Resilience! Taking a leaf from the top 5 life principles that helped him succeed on the tennis court and are applicable to our everyday life too: 1. Mindset Mastery: A resilient mindset was my secret weapon. I embraced setbacks as steppingstones and stayed positive even during tough times. For us: Embrace challenges as opportunities, stay positive, and never give up. 2. Dedicated Training: Diligent practice and unwavering commitment to honing my skills were crucial. I knew I had to continually improve to stay competitive. For us: Continuous Learning: Just like in tennis, we must continually improve our skills and knowledge to thrive in our careers and personal development. 3. Amazing Partner: My synergy with my partner was phenomenal. Trust and understanding on the court are non-negotiable for success in doubles. For us: Effective Collaboration: Success often involves working with others. Building trust and understanding in partnerships or teams is crucial. 4. Adaptability: Tennis is full of surprises, and I learned to adapt to different conditions, opponents, and strategies quickly. For us: Life throws curveballs, and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances is a valuable skill in any situation. 5. As an Athletic Trainer and Strength & Conditioning Coach, I help athletes of all ages enhance strength, speed, power, agility, flexibility, nutrition, injury prevention, and self-confidence.
Winning is not a destination. Winning is a daily habit. It's showing up to execute on your tasks with the proper intent... It's doing the things you don't want to do repeatedly... It's overcoming the internal battles and struggles... It's taking care of the "small" details that most athletes think are insignificant... ...and it's building a habit out of doing these things every single day. You are given the opportunity to win every single day. Take full advantage of it. When you show up and execute on all of your tasks at a high level... You are building the habit of winning. Win the day. When you win enough days... You win the week. When you win enough weeks... You win the month. When you win enough months... You win the year. When you win enough years... You win in sports & life. That's how it works. Success is very simple. Simple ... but not easy. But here's the best part... Once you build the habit of winning the day... "Winning" will no longer be something you seek. Winning will become a part of who you are. Start today. Skolfield Sports Performance, everything you need to reach the next level. https://lnkd.in/evVEPjKr #skolfieldperformance #parisispeedschool

🌟𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲! 🌟 As the French Open is in full swing in Paris, I was watching the matches over the weekend and a quote resonated with me. It is a powerful reminder not just for tennis players playing in that arena but also for us in all aspects of life. "𝑉𝑖𝑐𝑡𝑜𝑟𝑦 𝑏𝑒𝑙𝑜𝑛𝑔𝑠 𝑡𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑚𝑜𝑠𝑡 𝑡𝑒𝑛𝑎𝑐𝑖𝑜𝑢𝑠." Tenacity is that 𝑵𝑬𝑽𝑬𝑹 𝑮𝑰𝑽𝑬 𝑼𝑷 persistence and determination to keep moving forward despite turbulence against you. 𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚 𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒂𝒄𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒊𝒏 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆? 🏅 𝑆𝑡𝑎𝑦 𝐶𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑖𝑡𝑡𝑒𝑑: 📌 Clarity towards goals and dreams is a huge step. ✅ Document your goals and action items like a project plan for life in a document or an app and break it down into monthly action plan. ✅ Remember, each setback is an opportunity to learn and grow stronger. 💪 𝐸𝑚𝑏𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑒 𝐶ℎ𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑒𝑛𝑔𝑒𝑠: 📌 Every challenge is a chance to demonstrate your resilience. ✅ Face them head-on with a positive mindset and keep pushing forward. 🚀 𝐾𝑒𝑒𝑝 𝑀𝑜𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝐹𝑜𝑟𝑤𝑎𝑟𝑑: 📌 A rocket takes 80% of its fuel to lift off and the rest once it’s in its orbit. ✅ Initial progress may be slow, but remember that every step, no matter how small, brings you closer to your victory, so keeping moving forward. Let’s 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒎𝒑𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 (through whatever mode you gain it – sports/arts/music etc.) and make this week a testament to our tenacity.
