Beyond reconnecting with industry colleagues and networking for new partnerships, we spent the summit largely listening, learning, and scribbling in our notepad, trying to absorb all that we could from each presentation. The net result? A mosaic of voices, data, and visions for a paradigm-shifting outdoor industry. One in which innovation, inclusion, and intentionality form the norm. #MondayMorning Tip of the Week: A good practice is to have a Parking Lot board for the Daily stand-ups. Having the parking lot keeps the stand-up moving, and only the necessary (and interested people) need to discuss the items. The others can leave and go back to their work. BUT... ...have you tried categorizing your Parking Lot items into this Eisenhower Matrix? This is a trick I learned from one of the talks given by Jim Benson some time ago. It streamlines the parking lot sessions and helps focus when discussions are really needed. And (based on my experience) can also surface interesting patterns happening with your team.

One of our values at Luminaries Consulting is "Leave it Better". In high school I did a backpacking trip in the Rockies. Most guides have a "leave no trace" policy. Enjoy nature but don't destroy it. Honorable. My guide had a "leave it better" policy - which meant that we cleaned up after ourselves AND anything else that needed it. Pass an unclean campsite?Pick it up! See some litter on the top of that 14er? Grab it! . So at Luminaries we have embraced "leave it better": - We engage in and support communities we value - where we live, where we visit, industries we call home. - We leave physical locations we visit better - we won't leave crap all over the walls and furniture in disarray after finishing a session... even if it's someone else's "job" to do that. - We ensure that every engagement positively impacts the individual, team, or company in question. Every day, in every way. Leave it better. Happy Earth Day, one and all. One day to remember the things we should all be doing each day to take care of the world and places we call "home".
