corrosion IRL!!!!!!! I will shamelessly use that many exclamation marks because today's picture is literally a dopamine dose to the brain of anyone who deals with corrosion. This is a fastener on a new playground. There was no washer, so the bolt head tore the coating away and, well, you know what that means. what kind of corrosion? mostly general, but also crevice corrosion beneath the peeled edges of paint and between the bolt head and the steel frame. DRYING - minimum 24 hours Two part glue must be left for 24 hours to dry & harden, giving structural integrity to the corners of each frame. It’s crucial that this part of the process is not missed. The tinplate sanitary lids experienced some external impact or damaged during or after the filling seamed, which likely weakened the material. Happened from different manufacturing sources and different batches. This external force created a vulnerable area on the lid, making it more susceptible to corrosion over time. Once the protective coating was compromised, it exposed the metal underneath to environmental factors such as moisture and air, accelerating the corrosion process. As a result, the damaged spot eventually corroded through, leading to a hole. It is not always very high #protection classes or multiple #quality checks that make projects challenging. Sometimes it is just their sheer size. In this case our customer Robert Josef Wolf GmbH manufactured a #vessel that needed a protective #coating. And as the coating itself was pretty straightforward, the dimensions weren´t: 15 Meters long and a diameter of 3.6 meters certainly filled up our blasting #chamber well. Thanks to our 20 tons crane, we were able to handle the huge part well. Another challenging project, however in a somewhat different way. #greis #beschichtungstechnik
