I am really glad to come across the wonderful speech of Reinier de Graaf, one of OMA's partners and architect, architectural theorist, urbanist and writer. Here is his some striking words below regarding the role of architects today and their power changing and shaping things. "I think there is a fundamental misunderstanding as to what architecture is. Architecture is a Marvel of operational. Architecture is all about the 'How' and increasingly we make architecture 'What', and architects become a proclamational discipline and ironically it becomes a proclamational discipline less work architects have. ..Architect is the kind of master manipulator in somehow getting these things sailing these things through all the forces.."

Our director M. Hank Haeusler contributed to the NSW Architects Registration Board - Deep Dive Report on Systemic Risks in the Australian Architecture Sector. It consolidates the results of initial research undertaken by the NSW ARB and ARBV in 2022 with insights about these risks gleaned from deep dive focus groups conducted in 2023 with NSW and Victorian architects, industry body representatives, clients, developers, insurers and regulatory bodies. The Deep Dive Report identifies systemic risks in the Australian architecture sector that affect the entire industry. Without effective action, these risks could lead to widespread negative outcomes. Given their systemic nature, addressing these risks requires a coordinated response involving not only the NSW ARB and ARBV, but also industry bodies, education providers, research institutions and other government agencies. The Deep Dive Report offers recommendations so that outcomes can be improved for architects, their clients, users of architectural services and the public.
