🌿 City of Saint-Omer – Revitalising Urban Spaces for Community Resilience The Ville de Saint-Omer is undertaking a comprehensive urban renewal project focusing on the northeast part of the city. Central to this initiative is the redevelopment of public spaces, particularly the complete requalification of Quai des Salines and rue du Pélicorne. An initial diagnosis of the sector highlighted the need for further technical studies to assess the structural condition of the quay, which will inform potential consolidation and redevelopment opportunities. In the context of the Cool Neighbourhoods project, the redevelopment efforts for Quai des Salines will enhance the living environment, focusing on requalification, softening, and greening initiatives that benefit local residents. The project will prioritise community involvement by consulting with local residents, integrating their insights and experiences into the development solutions, essentially co-creation techniques. Through collaborative design and engagement with Cool Neighbourhoods partners, the City of Saint-Omer aims to pioneer a new approach and test innovative technical solutions to enhance urban resilience and liveability. We are proud to announce that Vistry Group secured detailed planning permission on 13th November 2024 to build 320 new homes in Windsor, just 2 miles from the town centre. The 38-acre development, named Windsor Arch, will offer a mix of apartments and houses, with 40% affordable housing for local residents. Our homes will feature low-carbon technologies, including air source heat pumps and solar panels, while also boosting local biodiversity by 11%. Work begins in early 2025, with the first homes expected in 2026. Trevor Wicks, Managing Director for Vistry Thames Valley, said: “At least 40% of the homes built here will be provided as high-quality new affordable housing, delivering real social impact. The use of low-carbon technologies to heat and power the homes is testament to our commitment to help the industry move towards net-zero, as well as helping customers minimize their carbon emissions...” We are committed to delivering high-quality, sustainable homes and creating jobs in the local community.

Big news for Auckland CBD! The council's Te Ha Noa project, aimed at revitalizing the city centre, is now underway. Centerpiece to this initiative is the planting of over 20 mature native trees, supplied by @blackbridgenurseries. These trees will not only transform the concrete jungle into inviting urban spaces but brings other benefits as well, including assisting in filtering stormwater, improving the quality of the water draining into the harbour, and will encourage the return of bird species such as Tui, Fantails, and Kereru. And, to set the record straight, these trees are actually up to 35 years old - decade with an S! Their maturity will ensure a significant and immediate impact on the city's landscape. https://lnkd.in/g7XGCGEE #urbanplanning #townplanning #landscapearchitecture #environmentalplanning
