I had a wonderful chat with the fabulous Raif Derrazi about the importance of involving women in clinical trials among many other things. While it's true that women overall are underrepresented in clinical trials, this is even more the case for pregnant women, which means that it may be many years before pregnant women are able to be prescribed medicines that have been shown in research studies to be the best. Here's a paper about ViiV Healthcare's approach to doing clinical trials of HIV medicines in pregnant women living with HIV, moving away from protecting women from research to protecting them through research Responding to the Call to Action: Framework to Accelerate Clinical Data Generation for Antiretroviral Use in Pregnant Individuals with HIV https://lnkd.in/eVXcvUSP
