𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗮𝘄 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 Another significant advantage of textile recycling is its contribution to conserving resources. Furniture fabrics are often made from new resources such as cotton or polyester. By recycling these materials, new resources are conserved, and less pressure is placed on natural resources. Through this approach, we can not only extend the lifespan of materials but also reduce the ecological footprint of our products. By recycling plastic bottles, old textiles, and other materials and giving them a second life as high-quality furniture fabrics, we reduce the need for new resources and decrease the amount of waste sent to landfills. Furthermore, this approach promotes a circular economy, where materials are continuously reused and recycled instead of being used once and disposed of. This contributes to reducing CO2 emissions and preserving valuable natural resources while simultaneously creating new opportunities for innovation and sustainable growth.

Join us on World Leather Day 2024 as we come together to honour the unique and enduring qualities of leather. We celebrate its long-lasting, repairable and versatile qualities - making it an ideal material for a circular society. Let's delve into the reasons why genuine leather stands as a timeless, sustainable, material of choice. Environmental Sustainability: through its ability to be repaired, reused and repurposed, leather has proven itself to be a #SuperFibre. By choosing durable leather products and supporting initiatives, that advocate for responsible consumption, we contribute to a more sustainable future. Waste Reduction: recycling of leather waste helps stop the fast fashion cycle and minimises waste generation. By diverting leather scraps from landfills and integrating them into new products or materials, we mitigate the environmental impact of excessive consumption. Promoting the Circular Economy: Harnessing leather and embracing principles of repair, reuse, and repurposing align with the principles of the circular economy. I help sustainable brands & creatives amplify their stories through impactful communications and curated content at PLEB Magazine and Clara Comms.
Thank you, Francois Devy, for introducing me to the SEAQUAL INITIATIVE and what you are doing to combat ocean waste, and cleaner oceans for all. Not only that, Seaqual is taking it one step further, creating yarn that can be used in the fashion industry and experimenting with how it can be used in the circular economy. Plastics are a hard topic, and there is derision about using them or even recycling them to be used in fashion. But Seaqual's initiatives are, in my opinion, a step in the right direction. You can read the article on PLEB Magazine. If you have questions about Seaqual and their ocean clean up initiatives, or using their yarn, feel free to DM me or get in contact with Francois. #plastic #fashion #oceanplastic #materials
Presenting SEAQUAL INITIATIVE and how they are tackling ocean waste & creating materials for the fashion industry PLEB sat down with Francois Devy, the Managing Director of the Seaqual Initiative, to discuss how Seaqual is tackling ocean waste and converting it into materials used in the fashion industry. What's special about this project is that Seaqual are not only cleaning up the oceans, they are doing something with the plastic they collect. Alongside that, they have set up collection points in different places around the world in cooperation with their Partners to breathe fresh life into the oceans and make them cleaner for years to come. Today, on #GlobalRecyclingDay, let’s recognise the importance #recycling plays in preserving our primary resources and securing the future of our planet. It is a day for the world to come together and put the planet first. At Pinnacle Furniture, we're committed to reducing our impact on the #environment and future-proofing for generations to come. Through strategic improvements to our supply chain and production, we're driving efficiency and actively working to reduce emissions and waste. 🗑️ Managing Waste: We take proactive measures to minimise the packaging materials on our products, and once installed on site, the packaging is removed for recycling to prevent the build-up during installation. ♻️ Recycled content: We use recycled content in a wide range of the furniture we manufacture or ensure that most of the materials used are over 95% recyclable. As well as this, our MDF products come from sustainable sources and are recyclable, further demonstrating our commitment to environmental responsibility. 📦 Wrapping and Packaging: We aim to reduce packaging, particularly #plastic #packaging, by 95% by 2025. Our current approach is to use sustainable options, such as furniture blankets for installations, to ensure reusability and sustainability. 🔄 Plastic in our Products: Recognising the impact of plastic in our products, we're actively researching sustainable alternatives that still provide excellent durability, strength, and quality. Let's work together to promote recycling, #sustainability, and a better future for our planet. 🌟

Upcycling is the way forward! 🔄 The textile industry ranks as the world's second-most polluting, with 80% of its climate and environmental impact stemming from the production process. Recycling, unfortunately, only saves 5-10%. At Reused Remade, we use textiles untouched, just as they are – without any complicated and environmentally burdensome recycling processes. We cut around holes, stains, and flaws, stitching together new in-demand everyday products from reused hotel linens and terrycloth. We reconnect with the sense of material. We not only accept but admire new aesthetic codes, because this makes each product carry its own story, narrate a tale, and be unique. What product and story do you want to share with your customers? 💚 #bethechange #reusedremade #upcycled #innovation #circulareconomy

Rethinking Material Choices ♻️🌿 In the topic of responsible business, the choices we make regarding materials have far-reaching consequences. It's a common misconception to categorise materials as either eco-friendly or not based on simplistic criteria like natural or synthetic. The reality is far more nuanced, demanding a deeper understanding of the entire life cycle of materials. Take a moment to consider the journey of materials, from production to disposal. Today, we shed light on the concept of continuous recycling in the realm of material choices. Let's challenge the conventional wisdom and explore the example of nylon carpets. While nylon is often perceived as a synthetic material with environmental concerns, there's a transformative narrative when you factor in innovation and sustainable practices. Some nylon carpets are not only made from recycled materials but are also continuously recycled themselves. Imagine carpets crafted from discarded fishing nets and repurposed water bottles, contributing to waste reduction and minimising environmental impact. It's a powerful reminder that the key to sustainable choices lies in being well-informed. By understanding the life cycle of materials and embracing innovative approaches, we can make decisions that align with responsible business practices. Let's inspire change by advocating for thoughtful material choices. Together, we can shape a future where sustainability and responsible business go hand in hand. 🌍 #weareprime #ecomaterials #sustainablechoices #reducewaste #responsiblebusiness #materialinnovation

Chief Administrative & Sustainability Officer at O-I Glass, Inc. | Operational Excellence | Sustainability | Communications | Public Affairs
This is a fantastic story about the power of an idea. Have you seen it? In the aftermath of the first oil crisis, Jean Tournier la Ravoire, the manager of a glass factory in Reims at the time, was looking for ways to save energy. An idea hit him: why not take a practice they used in the factory and replicate it for the outside world. That practice: glass recycling. 50 years later, that same plant – which is now part of O-I’s network – is celebrating its pioneering vision in #glass #recycling. Read all about it here: https://bit.ly/3WYbGY3. 👏 I couldn’t have said it better than Walter Ferrer, our Managing Director of O-I Glass for South-West Europe. 👏 Glass is a magnificent packaging material. ✅ It’s 100% recyclable and infinitely recyclable ✅ It’s ideal for a circular economy ✅ It’s not made with plastic and doesn’t have end-of-life issues of other materials I love how one seemingly “small” idea can have tremendous, long-lasting impact half a century later. Jean Tournier la Ravoire’s vision propelled France into a leader in recycling. It makes me ask myself: what’s the small thing we could change today that provide that kind of dramatic impact in another 50 years? I’ll be thinking on this – is there something in your industry that comes to mind?
