🦷 Happy National Dentist's Day! 🦷 Let's take a moment to appreciate the crucial link between dental health and mental well-being. While we often associate a trip to the dentist with a bright smile, it's important to recognize its impact beyond our pearly whites. Good oral hygiene not only boosts our physical health but also plays a significant role in our mental wellness. ➡️ Did you know? People with mental health conditions are more likely to experience poor oral health. Factors such as medication side effects, neglect due to depression or anxiety, and unhealthy coping mechanisms can all contribute to dental issues. ➡️ Studies also show that individuals with poor dental health are more likely to experience anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. The discomfort or embarrassment from dental issues can lead to social withdrawal and negatively impact our overall quality of life. On this day, let's prioritize both our dental and mental health. Regular dental check-ups not only keep our smiles sparkling but also contribute to our mental resilience. Remember, a healthy smile can truly brighten your day inside and out! #NationalDentistsDay #MindYourMouth #WellnessWednesday #MentalHealthMatters

Today marks the start of Mental Health Awareness Week, and the connection between the health of your body and that of your mind is closer than you think. Oral health, in particular, is something that can suffer when someone experiences mental illness. Research has shown that those suffering tend to avoid dental care, and this neglect can lead to gum disease and tooth decay. It is even proven that anxiety can cause some form of dental phobia, making it harder to visit a dentist regularly. At M20 Dental, we aim to make your trip to the dentist as welcoming as possible. Our team is experienced with nervous patients, and your treatment can be staged out over a time frame that suits you. If there's anything that we can do to support you further, please do let us know when making your appointment: https://lnkd.in/eCNv7mFW #Dentists #OralHealth #OralHygiene

Integration Consulting Dentist 👩🏻⚕️ Trauma-Informed Psychological Safety Warrior 💪 Former Chief Dental Officer of Pennsylvania
Recently been having a lot of conversations around how dentistry can do better. Ironically the very same people and organizations that (with good intention) say they want to do better, are the very same entities that believe it’s a “choice” to keep exposing oneself to toxic situations and entities in order to help others. It’s time to stop promoting physiologically harmful people-pleasing practices, and then using “resiliency” to gaslight the individual into further isolation. Time to acknowledge the missing half of resiliency is the need for restructuring the systems that are not only not safe, but inadvertently encourage a culture of self harm. Otherwise it’s not resiliency anymore and it’s pure survival against a toxic culture. #burnout #psychologicallysafeworkplace #traumainformed #workforceretainment
