Black history is Alberta history, and Canadian history. #DYK - The Last Best West | Historica Canada. “At the turn of the century, many Black families in Oklahoma wanted to escape the state’s racial violence and discrimination for a new start in Canada’s ‘Last Best West.’ The Canadian government, however, didn’t want them to settle in those vast, fertile western provinces. To stem the tide of Black immigration, the government began a secret campaign of disinformation. Uncovering this deception from 1911 can help us think more critically about the media we consume today.” #BHM #BHM2024

Happy Flag Day! Today, we celebrate the symbol of our nation's unity, pride, and freedom. Let's honor the stars and stripes that represent our values and history. Today, we commemorate the adoption of the American flag on June 14, 1777, by the Second Continental Congress. Flag Day is a time to honor the stars and stripes that symbolize our nation's unity, pride, and freedom. Flag Day celebrates: ✨ Historical Significance: The anniversary of the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as our official flag. ✨ National Pride: An opportunity to show respect and reverence for the flag, symbolizing our nation's values and ideals. ✨ Patriotic Education: Educating citizens, especially the younger generation, about the flag's history and significance. ✨ Unity and Freedom: Representing the unity of the states and the freedoms our country stands for. Flag Day, officially established by President Woodrow Wilson in 1916 and later by Congress in 1949, it is a reminder of the principles and sacrifices that have shaped the United States. #FlagDay #Pride #Freedom #UnitedWeStand #SmallBusiness #Community #GNDC #NortheasternMontana #CommunityStrength #EconomicGrowth #CommunitySupport #GNDC30Years #GNDCAnniversary #30YearsOfGrowth #30YearOfChange #3DecadesOfGNDC #Economicgrowth #EconomicImpact #LocalBusiness #MontanaGrowth #GNDC30 #GNDCSuccess

Helen Keller’s powerful words, "Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much," are a testament to the strength of collective action. Keller, who became a global symbol of courage and tenacity after overcoming the challenges of being both deaf and blind, understood that true progress comes from unity. Her quote is a call to recognize the importance of working together to achieve meaningful change. At Free the Slaves, Keller's message resonates deeply with our mission. Since 2000, we have worked to end modern slavery and dismantle the systems that allow it to persist. We know that this fight cannot be won alone. It requires the collective effort of individuals, communities, organizations, and governments worldwide. Just as Keller championed the power of collaboration, we believe that by joining forces, we can create a world where everyone is free from exploitation. This legacy of collective action and shared responsibility inspires our work every day. At Free the Slaves, we are committed to building partnerships and fostering collaboration because we know that together, we can do so much more. As we continue our mission to end modern slavery, we draw strength from Keller’s words, knowing that our combined efforts will lead to lasting freedom and justice for all. #EndModernSlavery #TogetherWeCan #HumanRights

Happy Labor Day! As we sit back as a nation and reflect upon nearly 250 years of the American workforce's strength, ingenuity, and accomplishments; let's be sure to appreciate the paramount ideals that America originally introduced, and continues to serve as a beacon to represent, to our world. America remains a shining model of what a nation can become when it is founded using core principals derived from the individual's right to freedom, public and civil discourse based on intelligence and mutual respect, and a properly conceived system of a government "for the people" that divides the powers of Congressional law makers, Executive law enforcement, and Judicial legal interpretation into completely separate but equal branches to ensure no individual or branch ever gains too much control. Despite the warts and scars on our nation, the political and ideological divides, and the seemingly impossible task that we face as citizens to logically interpret the different spins and narratives which come from all sides of the political aisles; let's never forget that we are not only a massive group of individuals with our own unique daily struggles but also loosely assembled friends and neighbors swimming around in this one great melting pot that is called the United States of America. May God bless democracy, and may God bless America!

Cross sector and cross border networks and coalitions to combat inequalities, injustices and heinous violations of human rights are ways to amplify the abilities of individual people, organisations and entities. By engaging these issues together, we have a much more realistic chance of success to eradicate them, prevent them, and uphold the dignity of those who would otherwise become their victims. #coalitions #networks #togetherness #strengthinunity

🇺🇸 America was founded on timeless principles that remain as relevant today as they were over two centuries ago. The vision of our founding fathers, guided by the Constitution, established the framework for a nation built on freedom, individual rights, and limited government. In America, the government's primary role is clear: to protect and defend the rights of its citizens. This fundamental principle ensures that every American enjoys the liberty to pursue their dreams and live their lives as they see fit. While the world may change, America's principles endure. The values of liberty, order and equal opportunity are the bedrock of our nation, shaping our laws and guiding our actions. Today, as we navigate the challenges of a rapidly changing world, let us remember the timeless wisdom of our founders. Let us uphold the principles that have made America great and continue to inspire generations of Americans. 🗽 #America #FoundingPrinciples #Freedom #Liberty #LimitedGovernment 🇺🇸
