Being a photographer has been invaluable to me as an architect. I only photograph people, and when I work as a photographer, building a bond, or connection with a person is the key to creating any sort of portrait that can stand with any level of respect for who they are. Great light is never perfect light. Technical skill will only take you so far. The shot is only about one single thing -- the moment when someone lets you see them truthfully. That moment can only be found in the right space, so understanding how space, and all it's attributes affect a person is something essential to my work. Now as an architect, it's still a critical element, and it's simply something that can't be taught in school. Creating a building filled with those spaces is probably the single most enriching thing about practicing architecture for me. #wearefelspar #photographer #architect #raleighphotographer #raleigharchitect #connections
