The infrastructure sector is responsible for 79% of global greenhouse gas emissions, with the energy and transport sectors being major contributors. To mitigate climate change effectively, it is essential for the infrastructure sector to significantly reduce its carbon footprint. 🌍 As we strive to mitigate the impacts of climate change, we need to drastically reduce the world's greenhouse gas emissions. The latest issue of FLUXES, the European Greenhouse Gas Bulletin from ICOS, highlights an essential tool to help decision-makers assess progress: science-based Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) systems. Read more in the latest issue of FLUXES. ICOS Sweden is the Swedish part of a European research infrastructure, ICOS RI, which aims to provide accessible, high quality data to improve our understanding of greenhouse gas sinks and emissions. ICOS Sweden is organisationally located at CEC. https://lnkd.in/d8JHv6xz #climate #climatechange

It can be overwhelming to keep up with all the information and data about climate change. This is why the recent study from InfluenceMap is so relevant. It sheds light on which companies are not meeting the requirements of the Paris Agreement. It's interesting to note that some of the companies on the list have net zero emissions targets. The study reveals that only 57 companies that produce oil, gas, coal, and cement are responsible for 80% of the world's global fossil CO2 emissions since the Paris Climate Agreement signed in 2016. #climatechange #ESG
A mere 57 oil, gas, coal and cement producers are directly linked to 80% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions since the 2016 Paris climate agreement, a study has shown. #greenhousegas #emissions #emission #climatecrisis #climateemergency #climatechange #environment #environmental

"Most fossil fuel companies produced more fossil fuels in the seven years after the Paris Agreement than in the seven years before the Agreement’s adoption." Some shocking statistics from the Carbon Majors most recent report and a stark reminder that more should be done to hold these companies accountable. Nonetheless, this should also serve as motivation for those of us supporting companies in combatting climate change & creating a more sustainable future for generations to come 🌍 #climatechange #climateemergency #parisagreement
