Let’s talk about reuse, ♻️, one of the most important steps to implement if we want to transition to a #circulareconomy.
In this episode of #BelieveCircular, myself and Sarah Tosone who works for BoomerangAlliance (where she focuses on finding ways and new systems to expand the everyday use of #ReusableCups in our society) breakdown the opportunities and challenges around this topic.
Together we explore the why, the how, the benefits and discuss how recyclable a coffee cup is in Australia. Furthermore, Sarah and I contemplate on what it will be like in #Sweden when I go back next time , the reality is that I struggled to find Reusable cups when I was there before Xmas, it took a trip to London to find one 😯 but with the new legislation in Sweden, deriving from the EU introduced since the 1st of Jan 2024, that is enforcing a Reuse system at all fast food centers serving over 150 drinks/plates per day, we both hope to see a rapid improvement in this space 💪 Use the link below to listen to the whole conversation and let’s all join the "Reusie" movement!

Finally, I have to admit that I think the time has come for a positive “#shame and #blame” culture where we actively use this to encourage each other to behave better i.e. to remember to bring our reusable cup or bottle when we head out (noting that I myself belong to the forgetful category, and need reminding at times) and to encourage cafeterias to serve in reusable cups (I recently asked to sit down and get a real cup and was still served coffee in a take away cup 🙈).
If you are a cafe owner, please check out how to join the #PlasticFreeProgram currently offered via the Boomerang Alliance, via this link here https://lnkd.in/gFRYrsnx.
I think key take away from this discussion is that we all need to help each other to work together towards reducing the usage of millions of “single take away items” 🤩☕️🥤
We hope you will enjoy this episode, have a great day!

4moExcellent article and I appreciate the transparency around the challenges that are still being faced. There’s still a long way to go but it’s an important journey.
