Imagine building a hearing conservation program to protect your employees without knowing the actual noise levels they face. That’s a recipe for trouble. A noise assessment is the foundation of any effective hearing conservation program. Here’s why: Know Your Enemy: You can’t fight what you can’t measure. A noise assessment identifies areas with hazardous noise levels, pinpointing where employees need protection. Targeted Protection: Not all jobs are created equal. Noise assessments ensure you provide the right level of hearing protection based on specific needs, not a one-size-fits-all approach. Prevention is Key: Early detection is crucial. Noise assessments help identify potential problems before hearing loss occurs, saving your employees from lifelong consequences. Invest in a noise assessment, and invest in your employees’ hearing health. #HearingConservation #WorkplaceSafety #SilenceTheThreat

Today is World Hearing Day Do you need to raise your voice to be heard by coworkers? If you can’t have a conversation at normal volume with someone approximately 2m away, this suggests a workplace noise problem. Using power tools or machinery for longer than 30 minutes each day is another indication that noise control may be required. The latest Labour Force Survey estimated 11,000 prevalent cases of work-related hearing problems each year in the UK for the period 2020/21 – 2022/23. (Source HSE) Hearing damage is often undetectable until the effects present in a condition such as noise-induced hearing loss or tinnitus, by which point it is irreversible. Workplace noise must be controlled now to prevent permanent hearing problems later in life.
