71.8% of primary carers in Australia are women - let that number sink in for a minute. This means that 7 out of 10 people caring for a loved one with a medical condition, a disability, substance abuse issues, or for those who are elderly are #WOMEN. Many of these women are caring for people while also holding down jobs and raising families, which is even more impressive. Unfortunately, they are also more likely to experience depression or anxiety than non-carers. On this International Women’s Day, we want to acknowledge these women. While we celebrate women today - and every day - we want to shine a light on these women who are making choices to provide much needed care for a family member or friend. We also recognise that many women may benefit from information and support that can assist them in navigating their caring role the best way they can. With this in mind, Palliative Care Victoria has recently developed a suite of resources for family members caring for a loved one living in aged care, including a wellbeing support guide, which can be found via this link: https://lnkd.in/g-e8nQSD #DARD #AgedCare #PalliativeCare #PalliativeCareVictoria #PalliativeCareAustralia #GoalsofCare #IWD

Rebuilding trust in healthcare is vital, especially for disabled people who often face additional barriers and discrimination. Solutions to tackle this distrust must be inclusive and equitable, ensuring everyone, regardless of their background or abilities, feels comfortable and respected when seeking medical care. It's crucial that healthcare providers listen to and address the unique needs of disabled individuals, fostering an environment of understanding and support. By prioritizing inclusivity and empathy, we can create a healthcare system where every person feels valued and safe, paving the way for better health outcomes and stronger patient-provider relationships. #Healthcare #HealthEquity #Inclusivity
