📍 Over the last couple of months you may have spotted us at Hamworthy Park! 🌳 For those of you that don’t know, Hamworthy Park opened in 1931 when 18 acres of marshy land with tidal lagoons was transformed into a community park. It is a much loved local space, giving the community a peaceful open space offering views across Poole Harbour, Brownsea Island, Arne and the Purbeck Hills. 🌊 The seawall has been under close observation for a number of years, with a number of significant cracks which needed addressing. Many of these have been repaired previously but have failed allowing the sea to wash out material from under the exposed edge of the promenade causing some sections to slump. 🦺 Suttle Projects were chosen to carry out these works to improve the seawall because of our extensive history in coastal and marine works. We also have a wealth of previous experience working within areas nominated as a SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest). Our program of works has strengthened a 200 metre-long section of the Eastern seawall to ensure it continues to protect the eastern promenade at Hamworthy Park from coastal erosion for the next 20 years! 🟢 There were many different elements to this project, including: - Excavation of the footpath. - Preparation of the sea wall. - Installation of the concrete formwork facing in 25m sections. - Re-bedding and tie in of the stones to the outlet wall. - Masonry & concrete slab repairs of both jetties. - Reinstate the Type 1 sub-base and tarmac footpath. 👏🏻 With any coastal project working with the tides can be a challenge, adding an extra level of complexity. Our subcontractor, Priory Formwork LTD who carried out the formwork worked efficiently in waders during high tide conditions to maintain progress. Their proactive approach and the diligence of our team ensured the project was delivered on schedule, meeting all quality and safety standards. This project illustrates a practical application of ground screw foundations where high resistance to tensile forces is required. 🔩🌞 For this project, a tent structure was required at a location where digging was not permitted. Ground screw foundations were the ideal choice for creating anchor points, essential for setting up the tent securely. This method guarantees a quick and efficient installation without the need for extensive groundworks. #groundscrews #ecobuilding #screwfoundations #construction #sustainablebuilding #firstbasegroundscrews

Forepoling technique can be used in tunnel refurbishment and enlargement, particularly for stabilising the tunnel crown. It involves driving closely spaced poles ahead of the excavation to form a protective canopy, reducing the risk of collapse. After the installation of spiles, grouting can be done later to further strengthen the structure, ensuring safe enlargement of the tunnel while maintaining the integrity of the surrounding ground. We have covered all these construction methods in our Online Tunnel Engineering course. Thanks for sharing a great article promoting the importance of corporate memory and how this can be achieved in the digital age through data hosting and sharing platforms such as IAMS. Murphy Geospatial have supported Irish Rail throughout their journey to developing a systematic risk-based bridge scour inspection programme. Murphy Geospatial surveyors were on site the day after the bridge collapse to survey the extent of the damage using bathymetric survey either side of the bridge, and laser scanning technology that was emerging at the time. We also installed a digital monitoring system with bespoke tilt sensors to ensure the remaining spans were not also showing signs of unexpected movement. We assisted with setting out, and monitoring during the reconstruction phase in the months after the collapse. Since then, we have undertaken 2000+ bridge scour inspections as part of the Level 1 Assessment approach for bridges on 1-, 3- and 6-year inspection cycles. Our surveys have been key to identifying scour defects, monitoring any known scour defects, and enabling decisions for design of bridge scour countermeasures. We look forward to continuing to assist Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail in their digital transformation and the management of risk around their critical infrastructure assets. At about 6.22pm on August 21, 2009, Pier 4 of the Malahide viaduct, along with the post-tensioned concrete beams of spans 4 and 5, collapsed into the Broadmeadow estuary, about 13km north of Dublin, just after an Iarnród Éireann (IÉ) train travelled across it. Despite the relief that nobody was injured due to the collapse, the immediate challenges for IÉ were immense as the company, in parallel with repairing the physical damage to the viaduct, grappled with questions such as “What about all our other assets?”; “How can we reassure our stakeholders that our assets are safe and fit for purpose?”; “How can we ensure that this kind of event does not happen again?”. Our heavy-duty truss girder offers safety under extreme conditions 🏗️ 💡 During the #renovation of the Willems Bridge in Rotterdam in the Netherlands, an unexpected #product took center stage: The heavy-truss girder, typically used in new #bridge #construction, was utilised for the first time in a renovation project – thanks to the ingenuity of our engineer Martin Fischer and his team. 🌉 Spanning an impressive 40 meters, the truss girders support 200 tonnes of #scaffolding material. Its flexibility allowed it to combine seamlessly with other systems, and its load-bearing capacity provided safety under extreme conditions. 💪 👉 But this new role came with another challenge: the high loads caused deformation, requiring Martin and his team to devise additional solutions. Discover what these were in our new article: https://lnkd.in/eCfGE_Eq #PERI #engineeringsolutions #civilengineering #infrastructure #bridgerenovation

Working on a river is always a tricky task. The main reason for the work being problematic is you are fighting against nature. As you divert the flow of the river due to temporary bridge construction. Working on a river is always a great experience. Sometimes love towards your work is not respected and reputed by the company. Although I am sharing my experience. #highend #intelligence #greenization CONSTRUCTION MACHINERY · ARCHITECTURE AESTHETICS VOL 4 Yellow River Grand Bridge on Anluo Expressway is the bridge with the highest tower height, widest bridge width and most complicated technical difficulties on the Yellow River in Henan Province. The bridge crosses the Yellow River Wetland Reserve, with poor geological conditions, high environmental protection requirements and huge construction difficulties. ZOOMLION's two flattop tower cranes, T2850-160V, undertook the installation of the main bridge tower. These two tower cranes have high FSH and outstanding hoisting performance, reducing the construction period of the main tower to 400 days, which is half a month earlier than the scheduled construction period. ZOOMLION Tower Crane is making continuous efforts in global infrastructure projects! #zoomlion #towercrane #crane #craneoperator #construction #constructionlife #constructionsite #heavyequipment #heavymachinery

Progress from our Ranchos Palos Verdes Portuguese Bend Hillside project!👷🏽♂️🤘🏽 Earlier this week Justin checked in with Joe and his crew at their hillside RPV project and it’s almost time to lift this home💪🏽 With the help of helical piles being driven down to competent, load-bearing soils or bedrock we’ll be able to recover some of the 20+ inches of settlement before locking the helical brackets off and ensuring the home won’t sink or settle any more. Once the lift is done we’ll be installing some new construction helicals that will tie into and be encased within new footings and a new slab which will allow for the remodel of this home to commence! Have you seen the crazy soil movement throughout this city on the news?? #WeFixFoundations #NeverSettle #FoundationRepair #WeLiftHomes #SlopeStabilization #Geotechnical #Engineered #BlueCollar #Construction #Contractor #DirtWorld #360Camera #FPVDrone Phil Laney Jared Fischer, PE Justin Sexton
