5 September 2024 - the Council of Europe Framework Convention on Artificial Intelligence(AI) is signed, with 36 initial signatories, including my homeland #Georgia. The Convention includes an unprecedented provision dedicated to children's rights. Specifically, Article 18 of the document mandates that states party to the Convention must "take due account of any specific needs" concerning children, ensuring their protection and well-being in the context of AI development and implementation. #ChildrensRights #AI

A new legal text related to AI, after the EU IA Act reached by the European Parliament and the Council, the Council of Europe published a draft framework convention on AI which intendes to apply to both EU and non-EU states with a more global and general vision than the AI Act. Aiming at protecting universal human rights and imposing legal obligations on countries that chose to accede to it, this Convention may be used as a global instrument to which states from around the world will become parties.

The EU, US and the UK are among the countries that signed the first-ever international legally binding treaty addressing risks of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and aimed at ensuring that the use of AI systems is fully consistent with human rights, democracy and the rule of law.
