The recent racist and Islamophobic riots in multiple cities across the UK, fuelled by far-right and fascist movements, are deeply distressing and should raise serious concerns for the UK Government. As a network committed to anti-racism, it is crucial that we not only speak out against these acts but also take actionable steps to support those affected. Every year, July 17th is celebrated as World Day for International Justice to recognize the importance of strengthening international justice systems and also to promote the rights of the victims. It also marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Rome Statute on July 17, 1998, the founding treaty of the International Criminal Court (ICC). The ICC was established in 2002 and is a permanent, intergovernmental court established to prosecute individuals for the four core international crimes: genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and crime of aggression. These systemic injustices create a situation where many people have no choice but to flee their homes, often ending up forcibly displaced. We at MAP work to legally empower forcibly displaced persons, such that those seen as 'human rights violations made visible', can lead a life of dignity, safety and security, no matter where they come from. #worlddayforinternationaljustice

The degree of malice is unimaginable.

2024 will be a year of Exposure (of evil, lies and hypocrisy), Collapse (of corrupt organisations, states, governments, ideologies) and Justice (which will finally start being implemented). #hopeful #justice #betterworld

The expectation that oppressed populations should remain passive in the face of brutality raises ethical questions. It suggests that those suffering under occupation have a moral obligation to accept their circumstances rather than resist. This perspective ignores the inherent right of individuals to fight for their freedom and dignity. Resistance, whether through peaceful protest or other means, is often a necessary response to injustice. Labeling such resistance as terrorism or an attack on peace can serve to silence legitimate grievances and perpetuate cycles of violence.
