Happy National Self-Care Day! In a stressful and hurting world, it is even more important to practice actionable self-care activities. This can be true not only for hurting individuals but for those providing care to those individuals. We cannot provide essential care to others if we cannot take take care of ourselves. This is because self-care is not self-focused but people-focused.

Hi LinkedIn friends, workshop alert! 🌿💀🌿 This October, Jennifer Tadjedin and I are running more sessions of Peace of Mind Planning – our end-of-life planning workshop – both in-person in Portland 🌲 and REMOTELY 🎧 (https://lnkd.in/gekpdgiQ) You may benefit from the workshop if: 1️⃣ You have an estate plan, or not, but you know there’s more to think about regarding death than just who will get your stuff. And you know that thinking about mortality, yours or others, helps you be more intentional about how you live your life. 2️⃣ You want to support your parents or other older loved ones with their end-of-life planning, but you're not sure where to begin or how to talk with them about it. Interested? ✴️ Register here: https://lnkd.in/gekpdgiQ ✍️ Sign up for our newsletter. 📣 Spread the word!

Managing guilt when making the difficult decision to move a loved one into #memorycare can be incredibly challenging. Here are three tips to help you navigate this emotional process: 💙 Acknowledge Your Feelings: Feeling guilty is a normal part of the caregiving journey. It’s okay to experience guilt but try not to let it overwhelm you. Please recognize that you’re human, and no one can do it all. Accept your emotions and permit yourself to feel them. 💙 Involve Other Family Members: Include family members in the decision-making process. Discuss the situation openly and seek their input. Sometimes, sharing the responsibility can alleviate guilt and provide a broader perspective on what’s best for your loved one. It can also strengthen family bonds and ensure everyone is on the same page. 💙 Seek Support and Self-Care: Talk to friends, family, or a therapist about your feelings. Guilt can be isolating, but sharing your emotions with others who understand can be comforting. Prioritize self-care—nourish yourself emotionally, physically, and mentally. 👼 Our #AngelCompanions professional companion caregivers can help mom or dad transition and help your family navigate this new normal. Trained in the unique needs of #dementiacare, we can be the compassionate bridge you need. www.angelcompanions.us
