Unfortunately some Police forces are ignoring ’the law’ (unbelievable when you put it like that) and twist the wording to suit themselves… How long can this be allowed to carry on. It is a cost to industry that unfortunately filters down to the man in the street. The unforeseen extortionate police rates are a burden to manufacturer’s that make UK manufacturing uncompetitive. Ultimately jobs are on the line here, whilst the police are making a business out of what should be ‘part of their job’. Easy solution is to make a small change in the law to allow ‘registered and qualified’ private escort companies the ability to ‘direct traffic’ upto a certain dimension or weight.
Whilst most policing is a public service, there are situations in which the Police can charge for ‘Special Police Services’. In his latest article, James Edes delves into the guidelines on charging for police escorting services as well as the practical implications for abnormal load operators. Former Copper now going on my own - let me help create that healthy work/sport culture that supports your goals
I often use the phrase “be selfish before being selfless. If we’re not good to ourselves then we are good to nobody. Some honest and difficult decisions needed from policing. A need to look inward and ensure the service is fit to deliver. If not there will be challenge after challenge. Burnout/Stress all factors in poor behaviour and mistakes and service delivery. More needed than simply awareness e-learning. Surely your culture and reputation is worth the effort.
In this year’s State of Policing report, HMCI Andy Cooke states that police forces need more support to improve than we can give them with our current powers. Sufficient oversight of the performance of police forces is essential to making communities safer. Read the full report here - https://lnkd.in/eKXx9_nY

Are You a Cop or a Police Officer? There's a difference. Cops are the ones you can count on in the field, the ones who truly know how to handle the streets and make a real difference. Police officers? They’re often just as comfortable taking reports. #LawEnforcement #PoliceOfficer #FinancialFreedom #FinancialFitness #Cops #ProtectAndServe #FirstResponders #FinancialLiteracy #TheDrozdowskiGroup

What an inspiring day filled with insights and reflections on race and equality in policing! 🚔✨ We delved into the barriers faced by Black, Asian, and Mixed Heritage officers and staff, and how we can start to reclaim our narrative. 📖 The importance of diversity of thought to enhance any organisation was clear, especially for policing—where every perspective matters. 🤝 Feeling safe within policing is the first step toward feeling a true sense of belonging. 🛡️ If we want to tackle racism effectively, we need to ‘turn off the tap’ before we can clean up the mess—it’s time to address the root cause. 🚰 It was great to see optimism about change! 🙌. A consideration to shifting from four pillars, Shaun White We discussed focusing on two key pillars: ‘Disproportionality’ and ‘Community Engagement’. The message was clear: don’t embark on this journey alone. There’s ‘strength in numbers’, and having supportive teammates makes all the difference. 💪👥 One thought that stood out—let’s shift from ‘allyship’ to sponsorship, championing each other’s growth and progress. It’s not about a revolution but rather an ‘evolution’, where everyone plays a part in the solution. 🌱 People in positions of power have the opportunity to ‘flip the switch’ and drive change quickly. 🔄 Let’s be brave, take that leap of faith, and start shaping the future—just like in agile project management, what we set out to achieve might change as we progress, and that’s okay. 🚀 Colin B.
